In order to make the public understand the mysteries of
synthetic biology and the dangers of metabolic syndrome, we have employed various methods to conduct
popular science education. For example, we have organized lectures on synthetic biology, created cultural
and creative works related to synthetic biology, participated in community activities during the Dragon
Boat Festival, designed comic handbooks on the prevention and treatment of metabolic syndrome, produced
music songs related to metabolic diseases, and created original workout videos. We have also utilized
platforms such as official accounts and Douyin (the Chinese version of TikTok) to promote and educate the
public.
Professor Han Hua's lecture on promoting the discipline of synthetic
biology
Professor Han Hua proposed that the foundation of
synthetic biology lies in deciphering biology. Deciphering biology allows us to understand the logic of
living organisms. Synthetic biology, on the other hand, involves combining lifeless components through
logical relationships to create a living biological circuit capable of performing one or multiple
biological functions. Professor Han also pointed out that synthetic biology is an interdisciplinary
subject with applications in various fields such as medicine, industry, and agriculture.

Promotion activities for World Anti-Obesity Day on May 11th
During the World Obesity Day event, we created a
beautifully crafted popular science article and published it on the official account of the School of
Basic Medicine, generating thousands of views. The article was titled "AFMU-China | World Obesity Day, Say
Goodbye to Obesity".
In addition, we conducted a survey and carried out both online surveys and offline interviews. We went
deep into the community to communicate with the public about the dangers of obesity and to provide popular
science education on what metabolic syndrome is and why we should prevent and treat obesity. We received
positive feedback from the public.
Dragon Boat Festival community outreach event
Everyone, regardless of age or educational level, should
have the opportunity to understand the current global challenges and the development of new technologies
used to solve these challenges. Scientific knowledge should reach more people, and the path of popular
science in synthetic biology is arduous. Coinciding with the traditional Chinese festival, the Dragon Boat
Festival, in early May, our team created posters and organized activities related to the festival. We went
into the community, educated kindergarten children and their parents about the dangers of metabolic
syndrome, and organized interactive activities with prizes to encourage more residents to participate in
our initiatives. Our goal is to bring popular science on metabolic syndrome into the community.

Synthetic biology promotion talks aimed at universities
Considering the future of synthetic biology and
biotechnology, the younger generation is particularly important. Therefore, our team conducted lectures on
synthetic biology in universities and actively promoted the popularization of synthetic biology knowledge.
During the lectures, we had interactive discussions with the students, and many of them showed a strong
interest in synthetic biology. Taking this opportunity, we also promoted the iGEM competition to attract
more new talents and attention for the next iGEM event.
Science popularization articles about metabolic syndrome
After conducting extensive literature research and
receiving guidance from our mentors, we wrote a review article on the diagnosis and prevention of
metabolic syndrome, making our educational campaign more scientific and authoritative.
Comic book "Handbook for the Prevention and Treatment of Metabolic
Syndrome
To make our popular science articles more interesting, our
team created vivid and engaging comics that primarily introduce the definition, diagnosis, pathogenesis,
clinical features, and prevention principles of metabolic syndrome. Through this approach, we hope to
raise awareness of the dangers of metabolic syndrome and educate people on how to prevent and treat it.
Aerobics exercise
Our team is dedicated to popularizing the knowledge of the
hazards and preventive measures of metabolic syndrome to the public. Therefore, we created original
workout videos to promote physical fitness. To cater to the diverse needs of different groups, we made two
versions of the workout videos, one for a large group and one for a smaller group, demonstrating our
inclusivity towards society.
FFun music video promoting metabolic syndrome prevention called "Stay Away
from Metabolic Diseases
In response to the national call for nationwide exercise
and healthy weight loss, we incorporated knowledge about metabolic syndrome and obesity into a lively and
rhythmic song. The catchy music makes it easier for the listeners to embrace the idea of exercising for
weight loss and leading a healthy lifestyle.
Science popularization competition
We participated in a science popularization competition
hosted by the highly influential Chinese Academy of Sciences. Through greater exposure on a larger scale,
our educational goals have had a more profound impact.
