Interaction with participating teams

We are contacting various iGEM competition related organizations in China.

We got in touch with the China Regional iGEM Exchange (CCiC) and participated in the exchange as an online program in July. We met many teams in the exchange and also met progress of each other's projects and achieved good communication.

1. Certification

Here is the certification and meeting video about our communication.

2. Invitation

We also participated in the Northwester China iGEM Meetup in August by remote participation. With fewer teams in Northwester China, our small exchange of 7 teams allowed us to communicate more deeply and establish cooperation. Besides improving our projects together, we also exchanged confusion and difficulties in our projects. All in all, we established a deep cooperative relationship.

3.Videos

We have multiple themes for ACE.Hair and educational exchange videos of synthetic biology. These videos contain not only scalp health related knowledge, but also a lot of synthetic biology knowledge. In the videos, we mainly introduced various scientific knowledge closely related to synthetic biology, such as bioenergy, environmental governance, medical detection, medical development, food and nutrition, and new materials. Through these videos, you will be interested in SynBio!

4.Cooperation

We got in touch with Dr Qin Lei from Tsinghua University. We contacted Dr Lei Qin from Tsinghua University. Researcher Qin Lei's research interests happen to be similar to ours, and he is also engaged in the systematic modification of industrial microbial resistance and robustness, and we had an in-depth discussion to learn more about each other's research in this field. He was very interested in our salinity tolerance gene fragment, so we requested him to use our original for testing and make evaluation, and he sent the gene fragment we obtained to complete the verification of salinity tolerance ability, which was very effective.

These pictures were taken while he was testing our components in the lab.

Communication with publicm

Two questionnaires were distributed to the public to find out their views on synthetic biology, asking them if they wanted to learn about synthetic biology and if they would like to attend our online/offline lectures.

We also created public accounts like ins, twitter and wechat to publish articles about knowledge of synthetic biology.

Perspectives on Synthetic Biology from Non-Biology Practitioners

Biology Practitioners' Perspectives on Synthetic Biology

This is one of the articles we published on WeChat. It's a literature science article, scan the QR code next to it to see the specifics. We publish articles on our public number every week, sometimes it is literature translation and cutting-edge science, sometimes it is our project science or lecture news, welcome to follow us.

Conference Communication

In August 2023, Xinjiang University held the 6th Youth Science and Technology Forum, inviting experts from all walks of life to carry out synthetic biology lectures and exchanges. The conference is committed to building an industry-university-research exchange and cooperation platform for experts and scholars in the field of bioengineering, providing exchange and cooperation opportunities for academia and industry, and jointly promoting the innovation and development of bioengineering and synthetic biomanufacturing.

Sixth Youth Science and Technology Forum

The special guests of the conference are synthetic biology experts Chen Guoqiang (2023 IMES Award) and Li Chun, and Yuan Qipeng.

The Halomonas bluephagenesis TD01 strain involved in our project is being studied in Prof Chen Guoqiang's lab, so we were very interested in getting the opportunity to interact with Prof.Chen. Once we learnt that he would be attending this meeting, we immediately signed up for this meeting.

When our member Kun Zhang met Prof.Chen, he introduced our project to him and asked him a few questions about the development of the project.

"Hello teacher, we are doing research on enhancing the salinity resistance of strains, and we want to find some universal components that can enhance the salinity resistance of strains. Several effective gene sequences have been found, however, we have some doubts about the application of the project and the development after that, we currently want to apply them to industrial production. We would like to know if there are wider applications for them"

"The number of salinity-tolerant double-boosted progenitors discovered so far is very small, they can be used in model cells to enhance the salinity resistance of model cells, if more effective progenitors can be tapped, this will help the development of the bio-industry immensely."

Prof. Chen Guoqiang affirmed our idea that these genetic elements have good application value. This is a great encouragement to our members!
