COLLABORATIONS
Since our establishment, the Peking iGEM team has actively sought contact with other teams, participating in, and even hosting, several collaborative meetings.
CCIC
the 10th China iGEMer Exchange Conference (CCiC)
The Peking team is sponsored by several institutions including Hainan University and the South China Sea Marine Resources Utilization State Key Laboratory. We participated in the 10th China iGEMer Exchange Meeting (CCiC), held from July 8 to July 10, 2023, in Haikou, Hainan Province. The conference, which was held both online and offline, attracted more than 1,000 synthetic biology enthusiasts. It also marked the first time CCiC resumed in-person events following the implementation of epidemic policies. The theme of this year's CCiC is "Exploring the Potential of Synthetic Biology", which aims to encourage people to think about and explore the role of synthetic biology in promoting the future of social development.
The conference invited important guests from the synthetic biology academia, industry, and social science community to give wonderful reports and exchanges and share their achievements and experiences in their respective fields with teachers and students across the country. Nearly 100 iGEM teams from China presented their projects, and the iGEM Foundation, along with the 10th CCiC Organizing Committee, jointly hosted a dynamic workshop. Thousands of viewers participated in the event live through the Tencent conference and Bilibili CCiC hopes to provide a platform for all teams to communicate with each other through the form of project roadshows and poster performances. Not only the communication on the project content, but also the reference and cooperation based on the technology, materials, Human Practices, and other aspects used in the experiment, and even the thinking on the long-term development and prospects of the project. The exchange meeting is a platform for mutual achievement and mutual improvement. CCiC also really connects the iGEM team in China in mutual communication.
During the meeting, we engaged in face-to-face discussions with teams from Guangxi-U-China, BNUZH-China, JLU-NBBMS, Tsinghua, and PekingHSC, focusing on future collaborations in synthetic technology, biological materials, and joint human practice activities.
T-P Link
the T-P Link iGEM Tsinghua and Peking University
On May 27, 2023, the exchange conference of T-P Link iGEM, Peking, PekingHSC, Tsinghua, and Tsinghua-TFL, hosted by Peking iGEM team undergraduates, was successfully held in the Geek Laboratory of Peking University. Each team carefully prepared presentations to enthusiastically introduce their projects and current progress. Everyone listened carefully, spoke actively during the discussion and questioning sessions, and provided new ideas and improvements for other teams without reservation. During the tea break, the guests and hosts are happy, and the members of different teams contact and communicate freely, jointly promoting the collision of thinking and the spark of inspiration. In this TP-Link exchange activity, we get to know each other, discuss difficulties, help each other, and bloom the flower of friendship in scientific research and discussion.
Conferences
the iGEMer Exchange Conference in Beijing
On June 30, 2023, with the support of the School of Life Sciences of Beijing Normal University, the Beijing Area iGEMer Exchange meeting organized by BNU-China and the team was successfully held in Classroom 101 of Beijing Normal University. More than 50 people from five teams, BNU-China, BUCT, BUCT-China, CAU-China, and Peking, attended the conference offline
the 2023 iGEM Microbiology Treatment Cancer Science Conference
the transnational exchange meeting with KCL-UK
Peking iGEM As the organizer, the team successfully held a transnational exchange meeting with the KCL-UK team. The theme of this meeting is to discuss the two parties in E. E. as used in the coli system. Advances in coli in hypoxia and high lactate and ALPaGA biosensor. The purpose of the conference is to promote academic exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and British teams and jointly promote the development of bioengineering.
The two teams introduced them separately in the E. coli in hypoxia and high lactate Research results. They worked this way by changing the E. Culture conditions of the coli, mimicking the hypoxic and hyperlactate environment, and studying the E. Physiological and metabolic changes of the coli in this environment. Their study found that a hypoxic and high lactate environment on E. Both coli growth and metabolite production had significant effects on further utilization of E. The coli system for biosynthesis and metabolic engineering provides new ideas. During the discussion, the two teams had an in-depth exchange on the commonalities of topic selection and realization. They agreed that E. The coli systems have broad applications in bioengineering and synthetic biology research and are important for solving problems in the environmental and medical fields. Both teams also shared their respective difficulties and challenges in experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation of results, and discussed and suggested addressing these issues.
Through communication and mutual learning, both the Peking iGEM team and the KCL-UK team have a clearer understanding of their future research methods and research ideas. Both teams recognize that cooperation and exchanges are important ways to promote the development and innovation of scientific research. They indicated that they will continue to cooperate, share the latest research results and experience, and jointly promote E. Application and development of coli systems in the field of bioengineering.
At the end of the meeting, the participants summarized the achievements and gains of the meeting and expressed their looking forward to more cooperation opportunities and exchange activities in the future. Peking iGEM The team is satisfied with the successful transnational exchange event, and said that they will continue to be committed to promoting international academic exchanges and cooperation.
In short, this transnational exchange meeting provides a valuable communication platform for the Peking iGEM and KCL-UK teams. By sharing research results and experience, both teams better understand their research methods and ideas. This exchange deepened the cooperation between the two teams and laid a good foundation for future research work. We look forward to continued cooperation in the future to jointly promote innovation and progress in the field of bioengineering.
