Proper usage of equipment
Autoclaving

Autoclaving is the most dependable method of sterilizing laboratory equipment and decontaminating biohazardous waste. If it is used properly, autoclaves are safe and highly effective. It uses saturated steam under pressure of approximately 15 pounds per square inch to achieve a chamber temperature of at least 250°F (121°C) for 30–60 minutes. Please note, proper temperature and time, as well as the prevention of entrapment of air are critical to achieving sterility. Please read the operation manual carefully before the usage. The usage of an autoclave requires caution and follow strict regulatory and operational requirements.
· Check the water level before use and add enough distilled water.
· Check the rubber ring is sealed.
· Sterilized items should not be tied too tight.
· Pay attention to the setting of voltage and pressure.
· Be careful when open the cover to prevent steam contact.
· Take out the items in the pot with thickened cotton gloves.
· For next sterilization, the second sterilization can start until the chamber temperature is below 50℃.

Ultra clean bench

· Before the experiment begins, put items on the ultraclean bench, then turn on the ultraviolet sterilization for about 15min. Please note, avoid eye exposure to the ultraviolet irradiation.
· After ultraviolet sterilization, turn off the ultraviolet lamp. Lift the glass baffle to 1 / 3 position, turn on the ventilation switch for 10 minutes, and turn on the lighting system to start the experiment.
· The experimenter should strictly follow the correct procedures. After the experiments, the bench surface should be decontaminated.
· Do not store items unrelated to the experiment on the work surface, and keep the work area clean.
· The filter material of the ultra-clean workbench should be replaced regularly and the replacement records shall be kept properly.

Centrifuge

· keep the rotor balance.
· Pay attention to the setting of parameters, such as temperature and speed. Please note, centrifugal “xg” and “rpm” are not the same.
· Choose appropriate tubes.
· Do a good job of daily care.

Oven

· When put the sample in the oven, please keep the upper and lower sides free in order to maintain the air flow.
· Inflammable and volatile organic solvents or additives are prohibited to be put into the oven.
· To prevent burning, wear special gloves when take and put in items.
· The temperature must not exceed the required temperature.
· Turn off the power when leaving the lab at night.

Microwave Oven

· Never heat your food in the lab microwave oven.
· Do not stand directly in front of the microwave oven while operating.
· Wear thick gloves to prevent burns when take heated items.
· Do not heat metals or other items not suitable in microwave oven
