sustainable

OVERVIEW

In 2015, the United Nations (UN) proposed and adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs). They called on organizations to work with the state to address these problems. As an organization emerging in the field of synthetic biology, our team is of course also committed to alleviating the food crisis with SDGs as the core. And integrate SDGs into our design of biological non-food feed project. We realize that all seventeen goals are interrelated, so that promoting one goal can also promote others. After discussion and summary, we mainly directly support:

SDG 1 No poverty
SDG 2 Zero hunger
SDG 10 Reduce inequalities
SDG 12 Responsible consumption and production
SDG 13 Climate action

SDG 1 No poverty & SDG 10 Reduce inequalities

Eliminate all forms of poverty around the world; reduce inequality within and between countries.

Our project has created new sources of income for farming, especially for rural women and low-income farmers: two groups that are often economically marginalized and disadvantaged. The need for agricultural waste as a raw material for yeast can create additional economic income for farmers, for whom crop straw is an often unused and freely available resource. This additional income can be used to buy high-yield seeds for their production, buy nutritious food for their families, and improve the overall living standards of low-income farmers. The production and sale of yeast feed can also provide jobs for rural women, improving their knowledge and skills while increasing their independent source of income.

In this way, the difference between rural and urban economic level can be reduced, and the income level and quality level can be balanced. In addition, our project also provides new solutions to reduce the production cost of animal husbandry. The cost of non-food bio-produced protein feed is mainly composed of low agricultural waste straw as production raw material, which is significantly reduced compared with traditional food feed. This means that in the context of the economic downturn, the production risk of the economically disadvantaged livestock farmers will be reduced. We provide a more equal basis for individuals to seek financial security by establishing a sustainable and cheap model of production and consumption.

In addition, our Wuhan-Hubei-China has formed a charity joint team with HUBU-HUBEI-CHINA, HUBU-SKY-China, HUBU-WUHAN-CHINA, HUBU-China, HBUT-China, aiming to eliminate poverty and help poor children. With the theme of "Gathering every love, transfer warmth", we organized a charity fundraising activity. While popularizing biological knowledge to the public, we raised money to Hubei Youth Development Foundation, hoping to contribute our strength to helping poor children.

SDG 2 Zero hunger

Eliminate hunger, achieve food security, improve nutritional status and promote sustainable agriculture.

Under the social background of shortage of grain resources, the traditional breeding feed with grain as raw material has caused the contradiction of people and livestock competing for grain. Our project uses crop straw as non-grain resources as raw materials, which alleviates the contradiction between human and livestock for grain and saves grain resources. In addition, the development mode of straw feed ecological utilization we envision has certain reference value for promoting the development of sustainable agriculture, and realizes high efficiency and high-quality production while optimizing the allocation of agricultural resources. We have provided useful support for protecting food security and promoting sustainable agricultural development.

SDG 12 Responsible consumption and production

Adopt sustainable consumption and production patterns.

The main goal of our project is to produce large amounts of protein-rich feed with initially wasted straw resources. This is entirely within the scope of the SDG. One of our long-term goals is to optimize our utilization efficiency to produce more yeast with less resources, thus optimizing the use of environmental waste resources while maintaining economic growth in value production. On the other hand, we convert agricultural waste into agricultural feed products, which can join the green recycling agricultural system to play a role, and derive the ecological cycle development mode of straw feed utilization.

SDG 13 Climate action

Take urgent action to address climate change and its impacts.

By using agricultural waste as feedstock for yeast, we reduced the air pollution associated with the combustion of conventional agricultural waste occurring in some areas. At the same time, these agricultural wastes are guided to yeast protein feed, which encourages farmers to sell agricultural wastes as yeast raw materials and convert them into animal husbandry feed, which has huge conversion potential. In addition, for the global warming trend, our biological feed production process is more environmentally friendly and safe than the traditional chemical industry.
