Safety

My Icon Overview

Safety is always the priority of GEC-CHINA. We had strict rules during the experiment or during the rest time to ensure the safety of all students. Also, two teachers would teach and watch us experiment. They delineated the lab we use and the ways to use all of the instruments step by step. Thus, our experiment was conducted in a very safe environment with no human or animal experiments, as well as no viruses were used. At the same time, all pictures, videos, and quotes we use in human practice, are consented by the person who engaged in the project. All the experiments and camp activities are conducted in a proper safe environment.

My Icon Basic Safety Rules

My Icon Instrument safety

  1. Centrifuge
    • Place the centrifuge tubes into the rotor body, which must be placed symmetrically in an even number.
    • When closing the door cover, be sure to keep the door cover locked tightly, and then check whether the door cover is closed by hand.
  2. Spectrophotometers
    • Remember to blank with the distilled water before the measuring begins.
    • The cuvette should be rinsed twice with the sample before containing the sample.
    • After the measurement, the cuvette should be cleaned with distilled water and then dried.
    • When adding samples to the cuvette, if the sample flows to the outer wall of the cuvette, it should be dried with filter paper, and the lens paper should be wiped clean and measured, and it should not be wiped with filter paper to avoid scratches in the cuvette.
    • Do not open the window door of the measuring room during the measurement process, otherwise, the accuracy of the measurement results will be affected.
  3. Electrophoresis instrument
    • After the electrophoresis instrument is energized, it is forbidden for the human body to contact the electrode, electrophoresis, and other parts that may be charged, and do not get to take and place things in the electrophoresis tank, if necessary, the power supply of the electrophoresis instrument should be cut off first to avoid electric shock.
    • After the electrophoresis instrument is turned on, please do not temporarily add or unplug the output cable plug to avoid a short circuit.
    • Electrophoresis of different media supports cannot be performed at the same time.
  4. Gel Imager
    • In order to prevent ultraviolet leakage, the operator is prohibited from opening the door during use.
    • In order to prevent pollution, please do not touch the computer mouse, keyboard, warehouse door, and light box power switch with gloves.
    • Keep the environment in the observation room dry, and dry the water or other liquids left on the observation board in time.
