Team Members

Theodoros studies Biology at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, and he is a part of our Wet Lab team. He is interested in bioinformatics and biotechnology. Theodoros' creativity has made our team manage to overcome many upcoming wet lab issues an unimaginable amount of times. He presents the stable help you can always count on, and his optimism is one of the reasons our team has survived during difficult times. He is an amazing listener, and will always provide you with the best advice possible. Despite that, he still retains a sense of mystery and that is why we are not mentioning any of his hobbies. He is definitely not an open book and - not gonna lie - that's intriguing.

Filoxeni studies Biomedical Sciences at the University of West Attica, and she is interested in neurobiology as well as embryology. Her creativity as well as her way with children never fail to surprise you, and she is the main reason we have some extraordinary educational Human Practices on our timeline. Filoxeni is the optimist of the team and even when things go bad in the lab, she always goes with the flow and trusts the process of what is going to happen (hint: she is ALMOST never wrong). Her everyday life is always full of surprises, and she adores exploring new cultures and countries. In the near future, she is planning to move to Spain, in order to chase both research and acting opportunities, her 2 biggest passions in life. Her sweet words never fail to put a smile on your face, and she is always eager to help and do anything for the team.

Dimitris studies Medicine at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, and he is interested in neurology and mathematics. Dimitris' reasoning and algorithmic strategies have helped the team survive the modeling process. Dimitris has a heart of gold, and if he is not one of the most pure loving people, then kindness might not even exist. His priority has always been each and every one of our team's member's happiness and well being, and he would sacrifice anything for the team. Dimitris always thirsts for new experiences, and he is for sure a one-man band. His hobbies include teaching math, amateur boxing, winter swimming, and he is also a volunteer firefighter. He has the potential to advance the world, as he did with the iGEM team.

Nicolas studies Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens. He is interested in graph machine learning and neural networks. Nicolas's ambition and passion to evolve is what drives our team's progress. Nicolas always thirsts for improvement, which, combined with his AI and engineering skills, leads our dry lab to perfection. He may seem shy at first, but you 'll see he is a teaser in no time. The Dry Lab wouldn't have wholesome moments without him, and his quotes will remain unforgettable in the history of iGEM Athens. He has also played a major role in our team's entrepreneurship. Nicolas loves afternoon walks on the beach, and his hobbies include surfing and weightlifting.

Myrto studies Chemical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens. She is interested in biotechnology. Myrto is the queen of Fundraising and Human Practices, and creates the bridge that unites our team with the outside world. Her warm personality wins whoever starts a conversation with her, and her communicative skills are beyond phenomenal. To say that she is an animal lover is an understatement, as she has adopted over 15 cats and dogs. She loves reading sci-fi books and watching movies on outdoor cinemas. The cutest thing about her? She always tries to grasp dry lab terminologies in order to impress its members. The result? She sounds like a boomer.

Theodoros studies Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens. He is interested in biosensors as well as bioelectronics. Thodoris is the type of guy that will do the job efficiently, silently, and when he is done, he will proceed on another task unbothered. We consider his presence as a cheat for the competition, and the Dry Lab would never be the same without this king. He is an amazing cook and constantly supplies the wet lab team with brownies to boost our productivity. His music taste might be a little bit controversial, but his movie taste is not, and he is by far the best buddy to watch Netflix together. Thodoris's weird flex is that he knows every weird and dark place to hang out in Athens. Rumor has it that he runs DOOM on a calculator.

Andreas has a BSc in Digital Systems from the University of Piraeus, and he is the designer of our project's Wiki page. During our journey, Andreas was miles away. Literally. Specifically, 5.430 miles away, in Chicago, where he now does his Master's on Computer Science, and is planning to work on product development in the future. He claims he has "no life" because he is a developer, but how can he even say that when he is a world traveler? His hobbies include weightlifting and chess. We had the opportunity to meet Andreas twice during this year (both of these times were by far some of the best moments our team has had during our journey), and we wish that after the project ends, we will have the chance to plan on vacations with him and learn more about his wonderful and friendly personality!

Katia studies Biology in the National & Kapodistrian Umiversity of Athens. She is interested in neurobiology and marine biology. Katia is the heart of our laboratory, designing meticulously and organizing carefully all of our experiments. She coordinates our team, encouraging us gently, yet at the same time sternly to contribute, rightly gaining the nickname "Mum" of the group. Katia has the best clothing style in the whole team, and she persists in impressing anyone even when sleep deprived. With her, you may expect to have wonderful and various conversations, as her interests cover a broad spectrum, from cooking and drawing to song contests and puzzle solving. She enjoys camping, attending concerts, and she is an amazing tennis player.

Ioannis is a Medical Doctor, having graduated from the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. He is edgy enough to be a doctor that knows coding, and that makes him an indispensable Dry Lab member (Even though he contributed to almost every aspect of our project). He is passionate about biomedical engineering and is an aspiring neurologist. Ioannis is the perfect combination of rationality and romance. He is a skilled chess player and his poems will make anyone's heart melt. He spends his free time gaming with the other Dry Lab Members and reading weird books. No - seriously - those books should be illegal. His dad jokes always cheer up the team, and his laugh is contagious. He is the reason our team doesn't play Trivial Pursuit anymore. His biggest nightmare? Primer design. They can never be perfect.

Iason studies Medicine at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. He is interested in surgery and cancer research. Iason is always full of ideas on how to improve our project or troubleshoot, and his imagination will amaze you. He has a very interesting personality and there is no way you can spend a few minutes with him without learning something new. He is a fan of Korean culture and his hobbies include hiking and beer tasting. Iason is also a nature lover and we inform you from now that he is looking for travel buddies, as after our project ends, he aims to explore every fascinating place in the world.
