For World Health Day, iGEM Patras Med asked us to create a cardboard sign with a health-related message. We chose a famous saying from Hippocrates, "Before you heal someone, ask him if he is willing to give up the things that made him sick."
We teamed up with iGEM Bulgaria to celebrate Earth Day. Our team chose a spot that needed some cleaning up. After our hard work, we shared before-and-after pictures to show the positive impact of our cleanup effort. It was a great way to help the environment.
In honor of DNA's Day, iGEM Thessaloniki invited us to create a questionnaire about synthetic biology and test people's knowledge. We prepared lots of questions on the topic, as we didn't realize they only needed 2 questions. We even used the questionnaire with our questions in some of our Human Practices events, asking people if they wanted to test their knowledge after our presentation and experiments on synthetic biology.
iGEM Thrace asked us to join in creating a video where members from different iGEM teams described what iGEM meant to them in just one phrase. We came up with "iGEM is applied imagination." It summed up the innovative and imaginative nature of the iGEM competition.
We worked together to present at the Panhellenic Conference of Medical Students. We created a poster highlighting how Synthetic Biology can be used in medicine and public health. Our focus was on using genetically engineered E.coli to help treat phenylketonuria (PKU).
