Wuxi Second Hospital

On July 19th, the ZJUintl iGEM team visited Vice Chief Physicians Dr. Wang Xinhua and Dr. Han Shuguang from the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine at Wuxi Second People's Hospital. The purpose of this visit was to showcase the team's precise cancer treatment solution based on AI-selected engineered bacteria and to seek guidance and advice from the mentors.

This visit and communication were met with enthusiastic approval and support from the mentors. They expressed a keen interest in the team's treatment approach and offered constructive guidance based on ongoing experimental work. The mentors also provided insights and recommendations on future directions and potential challenges.

The ZJUintl iGEM team, composed of students from Zhejiang University, is dedicated to developing novel cancer treatment solutions through the power of artificial intelligence. By utilizing advanced AI technology to guide the selection of engineered bacterial strains, the team has designed a precision cancer treatment approach. This approach employs engineered bacteria to release drugs, precisely targeting and destroying cancer cells, thereby achieving more effective treatment.

Such technological innovation and treatment solutions bring hope and opportunities to cancer patients. Compared to traditional treatment methods, this approach offers higher precision and fewer side effects, which is why Dr. Wang Xinhua and Dr. Han Shuguang expressed a strong interest in the project.

The success of this visit represents a significant milestone for the ZJUintl iGEM team in the fields of AI and biotechnology. The team continues to explore and develop new technologies and treatment approaches to improve human health. This successful visit also provides crucial guidance and support for the team's future development.

The meeting between the ZJUintl iGEM team and Vice Chief Physicians Dr. Wang Xinhua and Dr. Han Shuguang from the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine at Wuxi Second People's Hospital was a highly successful exchange. Through the application of AI technology and biotechnology, the team has designed a precision cancer treatment solution, receiving full approval and support from the mentors. This successful visit offers important guidance and support for the team's future development and brings more hope and opportunities to cancer patients.

ZJU Second Hospital

On September 5, 2023, the ZJUintl iGEM team visited the Zhejiang University School of Medicine Affiliated Second Hospital (Zhejiang Second Hospital) and met with Director Wang Pingli from the Department of Respiratory Medicine.

During the visit, the ZJUintl iGEM team presented Director Wang Pingli with a precise cancer treatment solution based on AI-selected engineered bacteria and sought her guidance and advice. They emphasized the significant advantages of this therapy over traditional methods such as surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy, highlighting its high precision, strong selectivity, and low side effects, especially when applied clinically.

Director Wang Pingli provided valuable constructive insights and recommendations, particularly in the areas of enhancing the drug's precise selectivity and addressing clinical variations among individuals. Her guidance offered the team valuable experience and direction on how to improve the efficiency of their experimental results and move towards clinical applications. These two interactions with the hospital have deepened our team's understanding of the project and have been incredibly rewarding.

iGEM Community

izju-China Team

We frequently engage in communication with the izju-China team since both of our teams work within the same laboratory building. We exchange updates on the progress of our respective projects, share experimental data to raise questions and offer suggestions to assist each other. Additionally, we regularly conduct meetings where a more formal interaction takes place among the team members. Even though our projects differ, our goals are aligned, and we mutually encourage and support one another to achieve our objectives.

Sumohit Sharma

Our interactions with Sumohit Sharma have greatly benefited us in several ways. First and foremost, in terms of human practices, we initially intended to communicate only with our professor. However, he introduced the idea that, as our target users are hospitals, we should visit hospitals to better understand their requirements. Consequently, we arranged two hospital visits. Secondly, in the area of sponsorships, he provided us with numerous directions for securing sponsorships. Finally, in web development, we share our progress with him, and he helps us understand where we need to further our efforts and how to enhance each section of our website for greater refinement.
