In 2014, the biochemical engineering student André Herman founded the Synthetic Biology Club with a clear purpose: to spread knowledge about synthetic biology beyond the confines of the university. This purpose was successfully achieved, and today CBSin plays a key role as a student organization, promoting events and activities with the aim of making scientific knowledge about synthetic biology more accessible to the population.
In the beginning, the club was made up of just a group of friends who were highly determined to continue the project. However, over the years, CBSin has grown into a student organization with more than 30 members, who are responsible for designing and organizing projects to make their dream of becoming a reference in the dissemination of scientific knowledge come true.
It was through the club that the USP-EEL-Brazil team was born in 2016. That same year, they began their participation in the largest international synthetic biology competition, maintaining this participation in 2018, 2021 and 2022. Now, in 2023, we return again to the competition with the same enthusiasm and dedication, with the ongoing mission of learning synthetic biology, developing a project with social relevance and disseminating scientific knowledge, making it accessible to the general population.
The club has been fundamental to the development of all the innovative projects that provide not only knowledge, but also strengthen the bonds of friendship, respect and admiration between its members, and above all, through it it has been possible to carry out many interesting projects that actually have a significant social impact.
