Our Team
We are iGEM Thessaloniki: 14 students from 7 different departments. Highly motivated by the devastating wildfires in our country, we joined forces to create our project, Euphoresis. A sustainable solution aiming to enhance forests' natural regeneration and contribute to their conservation!
As a team, we usually communicate through memes, so
if you click on our photos, you will get to know us better!
Team Members
Markos Mathioudakis
Team LeaderWet Lab, Human Practices, Wiki
Our supportive biologist, without whom the team would not be the same. He has great humour and he is our mememaker. When there is a problem, we always reach out to him, so we admire his patience. If you want to get his attention, just shout “CRISPR”.
>"Always comes up with a good solution"
Artemis Savva
Leader of Human Practices,Wet Lab
Our up-and-coming doctor that we keep challenging her to figure out what we're suffering from. Rumour has it that she should be feared with so many acquaintances. She is creative, enthusiastic, and full of energy to always help.
"Addicted to explaining how Bacillus subtilis's promoters work."
Aggeliki Maria Papapanou
co-Leader of Wet LabLeader of Social Media, Human Practices
Our hardworking (but also whining) biologist gives her best self for the team. She's always there to take the team one step forward, which is why it's hard to find a task that she hasn't assisted with. Graphics are her way out of stressful iGEM days.
"Safety forms are her thing"
Thetis Tsinoglou
Leader of WikiWet Lab, Human Practices
Long story short: the pharmacist who became a web developer. She is always honest and dedicated to the team. She keeps asking questions, but if you ask her something while she's reading, don't expect an answer. She is the tiktoker of the team and a coffee addict.
"An upcoming professional web developer"
Ioanna Gerogianni
Leader of Dry Lab, Wet LabOne of our chemists who takes over the team's bonding. Enthusiastic and cheerful, she always has interesting opinions to share. The blondie of the team is the sweetest presence during our meetings.
"Model... double"
Aggeliki Savvopoulou Tzakopoulou
Leader of Wet Lab, Human PracticesOur chemist who has the most unique ideas, which often include a dose of nagging. Hardworking and passionate and she carries out difficult bibliographic searches (hydrogels are her expertise).
"Your future biopolymer professor?"
Stefanos Anagnostopoulos
Leader of Fundraising, Human Practices, Wet LabThe enthusiastic and spontaneous biologist in our team. Being the most impatient for the trip to Paris, he tries to get everyone in the mood as well.
"What was I raising money for???"
Nefeli Makri
co-Leader of Fundraising, Wet Lab, Human PracticesOur multitasker and hardworking agronomist is and willing to help wherever and whenever needed. She is very sweet, unless you say good morning to her in the morning before she has drunk her coffee.
"As bossy as it gets!"
Rafail Andreou
Wet Lab, FundraisingPharmacist, keen on philology, as he corrects everything we misspell. He is the "politician" of the team and, at the same time, artistic and has a lot of humor. He is the voice of reason and also the most beautiful voice in our podcasts.
"The designer you wish for!"
Asimenia Ioannidou
Wet Lab, Human Practices, Social MediaShe is the youngest (and cutest) of the team and our always-smiling biologist. She loves GFPs (aka Green Fluorescent Proteins) and says "I love it" all the time. She is so hardworking that when she is done with her tasks, she usually asks for more.
"Green experiments, best experiments!"
Michaela Ververi
Wet Lab, Human PracticesOur shy chemist, who always has a good idea to share with the team. She loves space, she is the master of AI's, and she can easily create impressive presentations. She has the most discreet presence during meetings and always has the right people to suggest for help.
"MFCs over Euphoresis?"
Soultana Delizisi
Wiki, Human Practices, Wet LabMolecular biologist and geneticist with a lot of persistence and a lot of fun. If it wasn't for her, our project would be less sustainable.
"Rumors say that she brings her cousins to every meeting"
Panagiota Baka
Human Practices, Fundraising, Wet LabThe kindest doctor you will ever meet. Always happy and willing to help whenever needed.
"Freezeee!"
Efstathiou Niki
Social Media, Wet LabStudent of biomedical sciences and a sweet presence in our team. She's busy but always on time for a podcast shoot!
"Cats are human's best friend, aren't they?"
