Alina Zhumabekova
B.Sc. Materials Science and Engineering 2nd year
Meet Alina! She is 23 and is currently based in Shenzhen studying a Bachelor's in Materials Science and Engineering. She has always been immersed in the world of science. Growing up with a mother who is a chemistry faculty graduate, Alina developed a deep-rooted passion for scientific exploration from an early age. Her fascination with science only grew stronger over the years. Inspired by a mission to foster a love for science among young minds, Alina decided to take on the role of team leader in the iGEM competition, leveraging her experience as the oldest and most experienced member of her team.
Pang Yiting
M.Sc. Nanobiotechnology 1st year
She is a biology graduate from SMBU. Ever since she began studying molecular biology, she has loved the field. She enjoyed the process of doing experiments, and she thought there was nothing more enjoyable than that. After learning about the CRISPR-Cas system, she became very interested in this technology, and she believes that through iGEM she can further understand the application of the system. She joined the SMBU-iGEM team with a passion, hoping to create value and bring positive impact to the development of synthetic biology field and society together with team members.
Sun Ruijia
M.Sc. Nanobiotechnology 1st year
She is 22 years old and has graduated from SMBU this year. She is going to continue education in the direction of nanobiology. Ruijia is an extrovert and a big traveler. She is a super fun person to work with in the lab. You can be guaranteed a laugh during the day. She has been passionate about biology since childhood, especially synthetic biology. And she is ready to dedicate all her passion to iGEM!
Liu Yu
M.Sc. Nanobiotechnology 1st year
She just received her bachelor's degree. Liu Yu had a deep love for biology since high school. Therefore, she chose the direction of synthetic biology in her undergraduate study, mainly studying CRISPR-dCas12e systems. She is very happy to have an opportunity to participate in iGEM and she is looking forward to achieve good results in this competition.
Arina Ivashina
B.Sc. Biology 2nd year
Arina is currently in the second year of her Bachelor degree in biology. She has always been passionate about life sciences, so she was very excited about participating in such a challenging competition in the field of synthetic biology. For her, being a part of the SMBU team is a great opportunity to learn and gain new experience.
Alisa Filippova
B.Sc. Biology 2nd year
This is Alisa! She has been in love with biology since 2018. She is interested in microbiology and always looking forward to participating in biology conferences. For Alisa, participation in iGEM is an opportunity to prove herself and acquire new skills. She loves speaking! In the iGEM team, Alisa is ready to take on any job. She is not afraid of challenges and is willing to try new things. Therefore, Alisa decided to become a Social Media Manager in our team, although her main focus is always working in laboratories.
Zhang Mengdie
B.Sc. Biology 4th year
Mengdie is in the last year of her bachelorās degree in biology at SMBU. She is a beautiful and hard-working person. She is always learning and working, and is never afraid of failure. She is like a top dancer who demands perfection in every detail and is a perfect partner. As Mengdie has proven to herself, iGEM has provided her with one of the best opportunities for learning new skills and polishing her existing skills.
Zheng Qixin
B.Sc. Biology 4th year
Qixin is 20 and she is in the fourth-year of her Bachelorās in biology at SMBU. Qixin is an absolute workaholic with strong self-control and a rigorous scientific attitude. Whenever she works, she forgets the time and sleeps. Don't disturb her on the deadline of work. If you do this, she will murder you in your sleep! iGEM has provided her with one of the best opportunities for learning new skills and polishing her existing skills.
Zhang Xinyu
B.Sc. Biology 4th year
Xinyu is in the fourth-year of her Bachelor's in biological science. She is 21 years old and she has always had a keen interest in understanding how life works and using cutting-edge technology. At work, she's a veritable perfectionist, and any missed punctuation drives her crazy! She joined iGEM out of interest, but also to learn advanced knowledge and improve her abilities in all aspects.
Zhenya Rakova
B.Sc. Biology 2nd year
Zhenya is a second-year bachelorās student at the Faculty of Biology of MSU-BIT. She knew iGEM quite by chance while listening to the new issue of the biological podcast. The hero of the podcast was telling his story about his experience of participating in iGEM, and she was so inspired by it that she also wanted to try it out! And now we can introduce Zhenya to you as the designer of our team. All the design that you see is a flight of her imagination and a desire to convey the essence of the project. Do not judge strictly, because she is still a biologist in the first place.
Anastasia Strelnikova
B.Sc. Biology 2nd year
Anastasia is currently pursuing her second year of a biology bachelor's degree. She received medical training. She is also passionate about raising awareness about environmental concerns and proposing sustainable solutions to tackle them. Recognizing the potential of iGEM, Anastasia seized the opportunity to explore a field that would be both personally intriguing and beneficial to the community. She is dedicated to using her knowledge and skills to contribute to the field of synthetic biology and address environmental challenges.
Aleksei Lobanov
M.Sc. Applied Mathematics and Computer Science 1st year
Aleksei is a 22 years old master's degree student of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science in the SMBU. He loves programming and solving math problems on the computer, especially if it relates to natural sciences. He joined iGEM to test his theoretical knowledge in a real-word environment.
You Hongjun
B.Sc Biological Science 2nd year
With a whole family of aviation engineers, You Hongjun still chose to study biology. However, his family's special background did make an influence on him. He showed a great interest in fabrication and microfluidic. With a deep comprehension of additive manufacturing, he was invited to join the SMBU team to assist with some fabrication work. As the professor said, maybe itās āmicrofluidicā!
