Collaborations

Regional and International Meeting

10th CCiC

The Conference of China iGEMer Community is a national event of exchange initiated by Chinese iGEM teams. From July 8 to 10, 2023, iGEMers from the universities in China gathered in Haikou, Hainan Province, for the CCiC event. Members of SCU-China participated in the whole meeting and shared the topic SRBioQuencher with iGEM teams across the country. We received a lot of feedback and suggestions from other teams and CCiC members and discussed the details of experiments, modeling, and human practices.

Especially, we see common problems of the environment village, and established good cooperation and friendship with team SJTU-BioX, XJTLU-China. Also, talked with Tianjin, HainanU-China, and CPU-China for other project details.

Environmental and Sustainable Development Summit

On July 18th, at the invitation of team NNU-China, SCU-China participated in the Environment and Sustainable Development Summit online. During the meeting, we shared our project with the other 7 teams that entered the environment village this year. Especially, we discussed how to integrate the concept of sustainable development in the promotion of the environmental track project.

At the conference, all 6 teams participated and talked about how SDGs inspire their iGEM projects. SCU-China delivered a speech themed How to Relate SDGs to Local Problems, where we shared our experience.

Team Communication and cooperation

Meeting with UESTC-China

As an extension of the iGEMer talk meeting, On August 7th, SCU-China invited UESTC-China to the Sichuan University campus for an offline meeting. The teams shared their project detail, and shared local resources and cooperation opportunities in Chengdu. Team members in wet lab, dry lab, and human practices all had in-depth communication with each other, which formed a deep partnership between the two teams.

Meeting with HainanU-China

On July 24th, SCU-China had an online meeting on the project and experience sharing with HainanU-China. Because both projects included antimicrobial peptide output, two teams talked about the details on the experiment design. Also, they mentioned that we should concentrate on the problem of the environmental impact of engineered E. coli.

Meeting with NEU-China

On August 8th, SCU-China invited team NEU-China for an online meeting. NEU-China shared their experience on carrying out the experiments in 2021. They indicated us not to forget the biofilm formed by E. coli itself, which may affect the system.

Synbio & SDG Exhibition

On September 30, 2023, SCU-China participated in the Synthetic Biology & Sustainable Development exhibition, which is co-curated by the teams of SCUT-China and SCAU-China, held at Guangdong Science Center. The exhibition aims to carry out the concept of synthetic biology and sustainable development to the public, hoping that the public can have a further understanding.

Bioethics Collaboration

iGEM Team of McGill University had a project on a bioethics report addressing the ethical issues in each village. At their invitation, inspired by the environment section report, we analyzed SRBioQuencher as a case study. It's a great opportunity for mutual learning.
