Contribution:

Making contributions for future iGEM teams rightly plays an important role in the competition. Therefore, we aim to add some information to the existing parts and provide suggestions and references for the future iGEM teams. So that they do not need to repeat the same work or the mistakes of us.

New information for parts

We have supplemented the structure, characteristics, growth curve, methods and results of activity detection of Catalase (CAT) and Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), and added information about Elafin, which is rarely mentioned by the team. We believe that this information will help future iGEM teams to make better use of them. You can click here for details.

A guide to avoiding mistakes in wet lab

We know that stepping into a lab for the first time can be overwhelming. Due to lack of basic knowledge, we will make many mistakes. This year, we compiled these errors into a guide to help future iGEM teams. We hope that this contribution will help many teams get more done in a short amount of time and reduce the time and resources wasted in the lab.

Inflammatory bowel disease brochure

In order to increase public awareness and understanding of IBD, while conveying important information for the prevention and management of the disease, promoting early diagnosis and treatment, and expanding social impact, we have produced an IBD awareness booklet.

The brochure describes what IBD is, the symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of IBD, management and prevention measures, and relevant information about our team, hoping to provide comprehensive information to the public, improve the quality of life of patients, and promote social attention and support. We have distributed this manual in community science popularization, 99 Public Welfare Day and middle school education. At the same time, we mailed the brochure to other teams in the hope that more people can learn about IBD.

Gut Alliance

Since our theme this year is still the gut, we have re-contacted the team of last year's Gut Alliance and plan to organize the second Gut Alliance, aiming to help more iGEM teams in the gut theme and give full play to our value. This year our league members include a total of five teams from NWU-CHINA-A, LZU-CHINA, SUSTech-CHINA, UM-Macau and CPU-CHINA. Since its inception, our alliance has hosted many activities.

You can click here to learn more about Gut Alliance.

The logo of the Gut Alliance

In the future, gut alliance will continue to serve the iGEM teams that do intestinal related aspects every year, providing a platform for exchange and cooperation. And the iGEMers of our alliance can also provide valuable experience for teams interested in doing intestinal research in the future.

Intestinal brochure

In order to better help people understand the knowledge of intestinal health from various aspects, we have produced a handbook of intestinal knowledge. The handbook was written by all teams at the Gut Alliance to focus on gut health from a public perspective.

WeChat emoji

With the rapid development of the Internet era, the emergence of meme can be said to be a seed language in the social field of the Internet. In order to make synthetic biology vivid and easy to understand and more relevant to our lives, we have designed a set of tagatose meme (from the first project we conceived) and a set of intestinal meme (from the project we are doing now), and have uploaded them to the WeChat platform for the public's daily use.

Welcome to download and use!

Modification of probiotics to treat IBD

Inflammatory bowel disease ( IBD ) is an inflammatory disease that mainly affects the digestive tract, including Crohn 's disease ( CD ) and ulcerative colitis ( UC ). The disease burden of inflammatory bowel disease is increasing globally, which seriously affects the quality of life and work efficiency of patients. We, the NWU-CHINA-A team, used synthetic biology to genetically engineered E. coli to treat IBD and regulate gut microbiota homeostasis.

Modification of probiotics to treat IBD

Compared with other methods, our engineered probiotics have the advantages of safety, harmlessness, low cost, and household use. We hope to solve the problem of lack of targeted treatment options and reduce the cost of treatment by using the power of gut microbiota to help IBD patients and improve their quality of daily life.
