Hello from 2023 GT iGEM team! We are a team of sixteen G10 to G11 students studying at G.T. (Ellen Yeung) College in Hong Kong. We have different science background and talents, but we have shared passion to explore synthetic biology and discover its opportunities to make contributions and positive impacts on environmental issues.
Meet our team!
As one of the team leaders and the team leader of the Research Team, Boris enjoys doing experiments in the lab. He also likes learning new fascinating knowledge.
Being one of the team leaders as well as sub team leaders of the Human Practice team, Anson is constantly busy with tons of events both in and outside school, although he does enjoys his fulfilling life. He believes that thinking from creative angles and stepping out of your comfort zone is key to success. luckily, he enjoys communicating and constantly taking on new, exciting challenges
Theodore is a leader of the research team. He is in charge of lab and research works, and enjoys working in the lab. He loves biochemistry and food science. In his leisure time, he likes to play music.
Jayden is the team leader in the technology team. He is a very hardworking person and loves investigating in different areas of science. He is deeply interested in engineering and biotechnology.
Being one of the sub team leader of Human Practice Team, Emily always enjoy communicating with different people, like to chat with other foreigners and learn more point of views on the same issue
Michaela is a team member of both Research Team and Human Practice Team. She enjoys practicing in wet lab experiments and communicating with people who have interest in common
Being a member of the HP team, Tiana loves to communicate with different people as she believes talking with others is a great way to enhance her understanding of others, knowledge about the world and communication skills. She also believes that every opportunity of participating in competitions and activities is invaluable and we should treasure them.
Gordon is a team member of the Research team. He enjoys doing lab work and is always willing to learn new things
Chloe is a member of the Research team. She likes to obtain knowledge through experience. Throughout the iGEM journey, she enjoys the lab work and visual design.
Matthew’s good at writing and video-making, and that makes him a good Human Practice Team member. He pays attention to details (which might come from his interest in music listening!) and always tries to work harder.
Adrian is a team member of technology, while participated in different activities for research team and human practice. He has great interest in bio-technology and engineering. He enjoying watching anime during his leisure time and listen to music
He’s a member of our Technology Team. He is fond of computer science, AI and programming. He enjoys playing basketball in his free time.
David is a member of the Technology Team, he is driven by a passion for coding, computer science, math, and art. By blending these disciplines, he creates innovative solutions, tackles complex problems, and designs visually appealing interfaces and algorithms.
I am Elly Luo from the research team. I enjoy doing research work and am very thankful for the experience I gained through this project.
Interacting with different people has always been what I like, they don’t call me a social butterfly for nothing! I LOVE communicating and understanding things from other people’s point of view, grabbing new knowledge and experiences from all exchanges big and small!
Ka Yau is from the human practice team.He likes to communicate with each other and discuss others ideas, enhancing his communication skills, which he think is more and more important with the lapse of time.
Dr. Yu is an Assistant Principal of our school. She enjoys bringing authentic research opportunities for students to make a rewarding learning experience.
Dr. Tam is an Assistant Principal of our school. He gives advice and support to our team.
Prof. Lo is an Associate Professor of School of Biological Science at The University of Hong Kong. His research interests are plant secondary metabolism and metabolic engineering. He provides every support to bring science learning opportunities for high school students.
Jonas is currently a freshman in The Chinese University of Hong Kong, majoring in Computer Science and Engineering. He is the leader of the Drone and AI team in IGEM 2021.
Gavin Chau is a Year 1 student studying in Hong Kong Polytechnic University, pursuing Bsc in Medical Laboratory Science. He was one of the team leaders of GT iGEM 2021
Chaky is a graduate from the University of Hong Kong majoring in Computer Science. He has prior experience competing in the Joint School Science Exhibition (JSSE) and is now working as a Graduate Trainee in Cathay Pacific Airways.
Owen is a GT alumni who graduated from the University of Southampton with a Master degree in Artificial Intelligence. He is now working in the field of computer vision and AI.
Belovffy is a Grade 12 student in G.T. (Ellen Yeung) College. She was the human practice team leader of the HK_GTC IGEM team back in 2021
Gabriel is a freshman in Cornell University. He is majoring in biological sciences. He was one of the team leaders in iGEM 2021.
Calista is a Year 11 student in John Monash Science School. She was one of HP team leaders of GT iGEM 2021.
Clifford is a year 10 student in G.T. (Ellen Yeung) College. He took interest in photography and martial arts like nunchucks.
