Coral Alliance Map
The Cure-All Reef team successfully created a coral alliance map after months of trials and errors. The software team began the implementation of the map using the Leaflet library. However, due to the limitations to the library, our team decided to remodel our coral alliance map by harnessing the power of the Google Map APIS. This sustainable change allowed our team to construct an ideal map for our users.
However, the Google Map APIS relies on an external server. In response to this, our team devised an innovative solution: we created several tables sorted by the geographic locations of the organizations.
These tables not only provide the name and countries these organizations are based, it also offers descriptions as well as website links. Furthermore, accompanying the tables is an integrated world map. The world map pinpoints the locations of these coral organizations, enriching not only the visuals but also enhances the user’s experience.
Latent Class Analysis with Jamovi
Introduction
In our drylab research, we performed a Latent Class Analysis (LCA) on results gathered from our survey regarding the willingness to pay (WTP) for coral conservation, linking respondents' socioeconomic variables to their willingness to pay towards coral conservation promotion. We utilized Jamovi, an advanced statistical software, to unveil patterns and relationships between socio-economic variables and WTP within various classes and hidden groups.
Our team aims to shed light to this free software to future iGEM teams, to assist them in uncovering significant relationships between different factors in their projects by making a step-by-step tutorial video on performing a LCA with Jamovi.
We believe every iGEM team will come across some form of experimental data, and would be eager to gain insights from the hidden patterns within. A 10-min user-friendly video would be the gamechanger one craves for. With more energy saved from avoiding technical setbacks, bolder ideas and more profound results could be brought under the spotlight.
