Joshua Hsu

(1) Analysis:
Analyzed works from previous iGEM teams and literature (academic papers and news articles) regarding the Soft Rot disease, bacteria (Dickeya fangzhongdai and Bacillus subtilis), virulence factors and mechanisms, evaluation of our proposed solution which is the mechanism behind quorum sensing and quorum quenching system, and how to utilize them in the project. 

(2) Background Research:
Identifying the cause of  soft rot disease, mechanism behind infection, infection prevention and Killswitch devices. 

(3) Visualization:
Designed our iGEM logo and Wiki Page layout. Created graphics for our posters used during the KCIS (linkou) iGEM seminar. Editing the promotion video and presentation video.

(4) Writing: 
Wrote and edited Wiki page, part registry (aiiA, LuxR, killswitch, basic and composite parts).

(5) Supervision and Project Administration:  
As the leader she supervises all group activities including Wet Lab, Dry Lab, and HP, sets deadlines and administers work to all divisions.

Abigail Seattle Lee

Managed communication with external contributors, including the Coder, Student Council, sponsors, Orchid suppliers, iGEM headquarters, and the school.

Oversaw project progress, set deadlines, and organized tasks in collaboration with advisors and instructors.

(3) Analysis:
Reviewed literature and analyzed work from previous iGEM teams, focusing on Soft Rot disease, bacteria (Dickeya fangzhongdai and Bacillus subtilis), virulence factors, alternative solutions, economic significance, and potential SDGs.

(4) Background Research:
Conducted research on various topics, including disease mechanisms, virulence, bacteria, Orchid care, and gene sequences.

(5) Investigation:
Carried out experiments, including PCR, growth curves, antagonism tests, plasmid transformation, Orchid leaf inoculation, and Interlab Fluorescent Tests.

(6) Fundraising:
Promoted the project at events and raised funds, particularly at the PTA event.

(7) Visualization and Media:
Created promotional materials, including photos, videos, postcards, and websites. Directed, edited, and scripted promotional videos.

(8) Writing and Editing:
Wrote and edited various project-related documents, including presentation scripts, grant applications, Wiki page content, proposals, and Instagram posts. Also, managed communications with overseas headquarters. Additionally, cared for approximately 50 Orchids used in experiments.

Chun-Ning, Chang (Lily)

Analyzed experimental results, including growth curves, inoculation, and antagonism tests.

(2) Background Research
Conducted background research on "soft rot," including Quorum Sensing and Quorum Quenching. Identified gene sequences using NCBI and selected bacteria strains for the project. Researched growth curves, inoculation, and degron system detection methods.

(3) Data Organization:
Compiled growth curve and inoculation results into bar graphs and line charts.

(4) Experimentation:
Conducted various experiments, such as bacteria growth curves, inoculation, plasmid transformation and extraction, degron system detection, and antagonism studies between Bacillus subtilis 168 and Dickeya fangzhongdai Ph3 and Ph21. Also, performed plasmid PCR.

(5) Progress Monitoring:
Oversaw individual task progress for team members.

(6) Scriptwriting:
Wrote scripts for events, including the seminar presentation at KCIS and the protocol for inoculation and antagonism experiments.

(7) Engagement and Fundraising:
Presented the iGEM competition and the project to school students on June 15th and participated in the iGEM seminar by team KCIS on August 19th and 20th. Conducted background research on potential fundraising companies and advised teammates on the timing of contacting them.

Yu-Tse, Chen (Bryan)

Examined research works from scientific journals and previous iGem teams’ work.

(2) Background Research:
Researched scientific methods for experiments, including AHL quantification and qualification, killswitch functioning detection, and sampled AHL while collecting data using HPLC and freeze drying.

(3) Data Curation:
Collected data from experiments, including growth curve and soft rot inoculation.

(4) Fundraising:
Helped find and reach out to sponsors.

(5) Public Engagement:
Assisted with conducting interviews with multiple orchid farms.

(6) Writing:
Wrote scripts for various events, including seminars with other schools and the promotion video. Co-wrote two complete versions of the fundraising proposal, one in Chinese and one in English.

(7) Software:
Created our plasmid design using SnapGene.

Tzu-Peng, Huang (Parry)

Gathered data from experiments for which responsible.

(4) Primer Design:
Designed primers for plasmid fragments using Snapgene.

Assisted in distributing donation flyers and engaging with interested individuals during the school's PTA event.

(6) Outreach and Promotion:
Promoted the project at various schools, including Wuqi Elementary School, Kang-Lang Elementary School, and Sungmama Cram School. Helped conduct interviews with orchid farms.

(7) Scriptwriting and Documentation:
Wrote scripts for events like the KCIS iGEM seminar, interview questions, and took notes during interviews.

(8) Visual Media:
Directed a promotional video, captured photographs during school visits, and contributed to the plasmid design process.

Yun-Yu, Lin (Annie)

Conducted research by reading articles and documents to help create scripts for our team, including the iGEM seminar at KCIS (Linkou) and content for our Social Media Sector.

Contributed to sponsor outreach and assisted in the preparation of 200 cookies for our team's PTA fundraising event. Also, distributed donation flyers and engaged with interested individuals.
(4) Collaboration and Outreach:
Initiated contact with other iGEM teams for potential collaborations. Engaged in educational visits to three schools: Wuqi Elementary School, Kang-Lang Elementary School, and Sungmama Cram School under the education sector of HP.

(5) Visual and Design Work:
Directed a collaboration video with KCIS (Linkou), captured photographs during school visits, designed the back of our team's sweater, managed content and layout for our Instagram page, and created graphics for seminar posters used during the KCIS (Linkou) iGEM seminar.

Produced scripts for events such as the KCIS (Linkou) iGEM seminar and our collaboration video with KCIS (Linkou). Also, authored and edited content for our Instagram page.

Ruei-Tsen, Lu (Rachel)

Read articles on the significance of orchids to present to varying audiences under the education sector of HP. 

(2) Notebook-keeping:
Recorded everyone's progress and the content of our weekly team meetings. 

(3) Public Engagement/Education:
Reached out to other iGEM teams for collaboration. The leader of the education sector of HP, who contacted and visited three schools: Wuqi Elementary School, Kang-Lang Elementary School, and Sungmama Cram School.

(4) Writing:
Wrote scripts and made presentation slides for the HP segment during the iGEM Seminar, and made our collaboration post with KCIS Xiugang, wrote parts of the Wiki page, including Entrepreneurship, SDGs goals, and parts of Education.

Hsun-Yun, Chang (Sharon)
