Bozhi Yang (杨博智) Captain

What's up guys. I am Birch Yang from Jinan China at studying in a foreign language school international Center. I am highly interested in biochemistry and related technology, therefore I'm taking chemistry, biology, maths, physics, and psychology in ALEVEL system. I'm a kind of persons who study hard and play hard too. So besides study, I spend most of the time doing photography, watching anime, and listening to rock. In iGEM 2023, I usually served as a team captain in our team, finding, optimizing and coordinating. Anyway, it's my honour as a part of our team and participate in charge of running our research routine. It is a great experience meeting all of you in the team in this summer.

Yichen Jiang (姜怡辰) Leader

Hi guys!My name is JIANG YICHEN,a 16-year-old girl from JINAN FORIEGN LANGUAGE SCHOOL INTERNATIONAL CENTER in China.I’m in grade 11 now .Chemistry and Biology are my favourate subjects since I was in junior high school ,so I have great passion of exploring everything relating with them.I have quiet a lot hobbies in my leisure time,like equestrian,badminon,playing the piano and drawing.I have stuck to my hobbies for many years so I have made some achievements in these areas.I played the role of wet team leader in our IGEM team.It’s a wonderful feeling to communicate with such students with rich academic knowledge and I cherish this opportunity to communicate with the the best student team in the world.Through this precious experience, I highly improved my academic quality and my leadership ability.

Jiashen Li (李佳珅) Leader

Hi, guys! I’m Lilly, a student in a foreign language school for the international department in grade 10. I am honored to be the team captain for the iGEM team. As a passionate enthusiast of synthetic biology and its potential to revolutionize various fields, I am excited to lead this talented and dedicated group of individuals on our iGEM journey. I am deeply passionate about genetic engineering and materials science. The potential to manipulate genetic information and design novel biological systems fascinates me, as does the development of innovative materials with unique properties. I aim to explore how these fields can revolutionize agriculture, and sustainability. By combining my skills in both areas, I strive to contribute to cutting-edge advancements and create a positive impact on society.

Beyond academics, my life is enriched by the thrill of tennis, the camaraderie of basketball, and the endless adventures found in books. These passions infuse my days with joy and vitality. The former offers me the chance to enrich my spiritual life, the latter gives me the happiness to live and cooperate with others. These make up the whole me. That’s all, thank you.

Zhengrong Guan (关正镕) Leader

Hi fellows, I am Jacky Guan from Guangzhou, China. I am a DP student who is studying at GCGS, so I have gained experience in disposal projects. At the same time, as a biochemistry student, I also explored the field and participated in related academic competitions such as BBO and Avogadro, as well as collaborative projects. I worked on both wet and dry teams. Among them, the work in the dry team was to weave the framework plan and sort out the context and content; the work in the wet team was mainly responsible for the preparation and recording of the experiments and provided assistance to the best of their ability. As an academic collaboration program, IGEM brought me into contact with many excellent colleagues, which not only improved my academic performance but also exercised my communication skills.

Jingjie Zhou (周靖杰) Leader

Hi, my name is Jeffrey. I am a ninth-grader from Shanghai Pinghe Bilingual School Qingpu. I’ve graduated and I’m entering high school in America. I like biology and lab experiments. I have a cat in my home, and this makes me fell in love with animals since I have it. Usually I will write translation scripts and do some testing with our product. I learned a lot since I entered this group, such as how to cooperate with others, how to blend in with others. Reading long essays and write reports is a brand new work I’ve almost never touched, but I think it’s a good experience for me. I hope our team can make a ideal project!

Yuwan Zhou (周于琬) Leader

Hi everyone! Wish you have a great day! I’m Yuwan Zhou. I currently study in Hangzhou BASIS international school as a rising junior. My main job in the team is to work on antibacterial peptide, protein and enzyme to help another group of people in our team to finally make better coating for saving environment and sources. I also would like to help the group of members who try to advocate our product as much as I can so that our team cohesion can be strengthened, which is the key to step to success.

Tianhao Li (李天豪)

Good morning. In case I don’t see you ,good afternoon and good night.This is Leo(also Li Tianhao). A senior high school student in Jinan Foreign Language School International Center. As you can see(If you have known Tureman), I am a fanatical film-and-animation lover. Anyway,I really want to advance my painting skill to make an animation by myself. Additionally, I mainly study  chemistry and biology. Therefore, The competition iGEM is also required to participate which I can learn more high-graded knowledge and have more experience. Hello guys! I'm Chelsea Li, 16 years old at Jinan Foreign Language School in China. I'm the member of both wet team and dry team, and I have definite interests in Synthetic Biology,  Genetic Engineering, Biotechnology, etc. That is also why I joined the IGEM this year. During the centralized training, I not only learn professional knowledge in biology and how to operate the biological device, but also make lots of friends who come from everywhere in China. I really value this experience and hope we can have a good result in the following competition.

Hello everyone, I am Elsa Ren, a high school student that still study at Jinan Foreign Language School in grade 11. I take Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology in the school in order to study biochemistry in the future, and I am a member of the wet team. When I have spare time, I would like to play the piano and play chess. Sometimes, I also go for a swim to enhance my physical fitness. To be honest, I prefer to spend time with my family in my daily life because this is a more comfortable lifestyle for me. Nevertheless, I also feel relax when I join this big family. I am so glad to have this opportunity that can not only acquire different knowledge that I may not learn in the school, but also do a number of interesting experiments. I believe that teenagers in our group will have a deep impression about this activity and we will have a great cooperation to finish this program in iGEM.

Zimeng Wang (王梓萌)

Hi, my name is Wang ZImeng. I come from Jinan Foreign Language School International Center.As nerdy as it may sound, I enjoy watching documentaries about biology in my spare time. I am in charge of a range of experiments and collecting data in our lab according to this valuable competition, It also gives me chances to assess specific academic knowledge and gain some unique experiments. For example, at the beginning, my understanding of silk was only that it came from silkworms, but now I have a good grasp of the degumming and melting process of silk, so as to extract silk protein solution.

Taoyuan Ran (冉涛源)

Hi, I am Michael Ran, a Grade 10 student studying in the International Department of Jinan Foreign Language School. My target major is related to bioengineering, and I am also good at biology and physics. But I am also very interested in economics in my daily life, so I will choose to participate in IGEM. Most of the time, I participated in the experiment in the wet team, I saw a lot of new and interesting equipment that I had never seen before, and I also got closer to my teammates in the process, which made me feel a sense of accomplishment. I also work on the team sometimes, giving some ideas on video shooting and planning. In short, many of my ideas have been put into practice in IGEM, and I have learned a lot.

Hello, my name is Zhang Yizhan, from Jinan, Shandong Province, I am a 10th grade student, now studying in Jinan Foreign Language School, Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, are my three best subjects, and igem includes biochemistry and other aspects, so I chose to participate in igem this activity to expand myself. Usually I choose to participate in dry teams, conduct market research, edit videos, create business plans, and promote our projects. I like my role, as a team we share the same pain and suffering, especially the part of interviewing in the rain I will never forget. Through this igem event, I met like-minded people from all over the country, enriched my own competition experience, and opened up international perspectives, which was really meaningful!

Yizhe Shao (邵翊哲)

Hello, I am Benny Shao from Shanghai DTD Academy. I’m 14 years old, finishing my first year in IGCSE. My favourite subject is biology, and my future career would be medicine and any biology related works. My hobbies are Frisbee, Go chess and ancient Chinese poems. I am an amateur Go player of 4D, which is only two levels away from a professional player.

IGEM is a really interesting competition. I learned many knowledge of synthetic biology through this journey. I have participated in both the dry and wet team. In the wet team we synthesized antimicrobial protein through E.coli, and extracted silk fibroin protein from cocoons. In the dry team we wrote a business plan, design questions and some of our group mates interviewed many fruit shop owners in Shanghai. I felt really fortunate as I learned many new knowledge and formed a close relationship with my teammates.

Hi, everyone. My name is Sara Yang, I’m from Hangzhou China. I’m grade 11 student studying at Albert college in Canada. My favorite academic subjects is Biology and chemistry. My hobby is playing guitar and table tennis. The role I play in the team is I serve as a laboratory technician and I’m usually  in the wet team, and I’m really enjoy to doing the experiment, during the experiment I have learned a lot’s knowledge about t chemistry and synthetic biology.

Yunlin Chen (陈韵霖)

Hello there.Myname is Yunlin Chen, a senior high school student in HangZhou, China. Coincidently, chemistry and biology are my favorite subjects which are both included in this IGEM project. So it can help me improve my ability in these areas. I experienced both dry team and wet team work in the process of IGEM. It was a pleasure to work with my teammates, they helped me in difficult times and gave me a taste of team life.

I like to read some philosophy books usually, I love to discuss a problem with friends together, I am interested in many aspects, involving music Traditional musical instruments. I am proficient in violin and piano, and have a certain foundation in vocal music. The subjects I am currently studying include mathematics, economics, physics, and business. I am currently serving as the captain of the team, responsible for interviews and video production. I have also learned a lot in this team and gained a deeper understanding of interviews.
