The School of Medicine of Southern University of Science and Technology is a first-class and internationalized research-oriented medical school with roots in Shenzhen, facing China and the world. The School of Medicine of Southern University of Science and Technology provided us with funding for the project and a place for our experiments, as well as professors and technicians to support us.
Shenzhen People's Hospital, as a modern comprehensive high-level hospital integrating medical, teaching and research, has rich clinical treatment and teaching experience. During the communication with the doctors of the hospital, we gained a deeper understanding of the clinical conditions and existing treatments for bacterial infections and nosocomial infections.
Southern University of Science and Technology Hospital is a hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, health promotion, talent training and international exchanges. The Infectious Disease Department of the hospital provided us with information on clinical infections and clinical treatment of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. At the same time, the ICU department of the hospital has experience in fighting multi-drug-resistant bacteria and using phages, which brought a lot of meaningful clinical information to our project.
Shanghai Hep Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. is located in the National biomedical Industry Base of Shanghai Zhangjiang High-tech Park. It is the first batch of key entrepreneurial enterprises in Pudong New Area of Shanghai. The company focuses on the research and development of original new drugs, and has the overall research and development capability from new drug concept design, preclinical research, pilot study to clinical research and mass production of new drugs. At present, research including hepratide hepatitis B research and development, diabetes research and development, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease research and development, hyperlipidemia research and development. They provide us with technical support in pharmaceutical matters and provide us with related consulting.
Shanghai Sangon Biotechnology Service Co., Ltd., abbreviated as Sangon, is a high-tech joint venture between China and foreign countries. After ten years of efforts, it has quickly become a professional biotechnology company that integrates scientific research and production. Especially the product of chemical synthesis of DNA has made Biotechnology a world-renowned company. This company provides DNA related experimental technical support for our experiments.
BioRender is an online drawing site that provides massive graphic materials and templates in more than 30 fields such as immunology, microbiology, neuroscience, and more. Its icon library has more than 20,000 scientific ICONS, which can basically meet the needs of biomedical drawing. We use biorender to draw our images, making our experimental results more visual and pleasing to the eye.
Canva is an online graphic design tool that supports multiple platforms. Canva offers a wide range of copyrighted images, original illustrations and high-quality design templates. Users can select their favorite templates and create posters, resumes, banners, business cards and other designs within minutes through simple modifications. We use it to draw our promotional materials, such as brochures, etc., which makes them look more beautiful and more acceptable.
We have had conversations with Professor R.E.W. (Bob) HANOCK from UBC and Mark Sutton from UK Health Security Agency. They provided valuable suggestions for our experimental direction.
Our team arranges monthly exchanges with igem teams from other universities through online and offline means. Up to now, there are a total of igem teams from Tsinghua University (THU), Shenzhen University, Lanzhou University (LZU), and Wuhan University (WHU-Antiphage).
Southern University of Science and Technology is the alma mater for all students and teachers in our team. We study and live at SUSTech.
