Yanzuo Shen

iGEM is this incredible opportunity for students to take what we learn in textbooks and turn it into real experiments. We work on projects that involve super tiny biology stuff, like genes and molecules, and we use computers to understand how everything works. It's like doing science in action! What's even cooler is that iGEM teams are made up of students with all kinds of skills, like biology, engineering, and computer science. We all work together like a big puzzle, bringing different pieces to make our projects amazing. It's like having a team of superheroes with different powers! Biology really interests me because I love learning how animals, plants, and the environment are all connected. I want to make sure we take care of our planet, and studying biology is like having a secret guide to do that. On our iGEM team, I did some pretty awesome things. I looked at what other smart students did in the past and learned from their projects. This helped us come up with new and exciting ideas for our own project. Besides, As a part of the wiki compilation process, I played a significant role in developing the safety section of our project's documentation. Safety is a paramount concern in synthetic biology, and my involvement ensured that our team's efforts aligned with best practices and ethical considerations. I worked diligently to research potential safety risks associated with our project's design and implementation, helping to identify areas that required mitigation measures. Through comprehensive documentation, I contributed to transparently communicating our team's approach to safety to judges, peers, and the wider iGEM community.
