Education and communication
Thanks to the iGEM Community, we can get closer and learn about the wide world of Synthetic Biology. Through the webinars they organize, talks, meetings with other teams, masterclasses... we are continually learning new concepts and ideas that we can use in the future. The dissemination of synthetic biology and telling what iGEM is and our experience are fundamental for our iGEM team. That's why we share our enthusiasm and commitment through a variety of educational initiatives.
Synthetic biology is no longer a barrier because the limits of imagination are blurred with facts in the laboratory, to create innovative solutions and address global challenges. It is a field that does nothing but grow, develop and expand.
However, we recognize that synthetic biology and the iGEM program are still unknown to many people, especially among young people. This is where our mission becomes even more relevant. And we not only want to convey facts and data, but also the passion and vision that drive our iGEM community.
Let's imagine a world where high school students not only understand synthetic biology but also embrace it as an exciting way to contribute to the well-being of humanity and the care of our planet.
We carry out actions that involve all sectors of society.
- Towards children: since they have an innate curiosity that can become a passion for science and technology. For them, we offer workshops and activities specifically designed to inspire that spark of interest and bring them closer to how the world in which they live works. They are activities adapted to their age in which they paint cells and build trees with Lego pieces.
- Young people our age: they are in a crucial stage of their education and making decisions about their future. And with the doubts that arise when deciding which path to follow, we want to show you what Synthetic Biology encompasses and the possibilities it offers. For this, we give talks at Institutes in our city and talk about our project so that they know what we are working on. Every year we do it and we can observe the next course, as the curiosity to participate in iGEM has arisen.
- To adults: we bring them closer to what they think is the future, but what is the present. All the advances offered by technology and science. We use our workplace, the Pamplona Planetarium, to give talks and conferences, and meetings to resolve doubts.
One of our goals is to build a bridge between generations and communities, bringing together people of different ages and backgrounds in an enriching dialogue about synthetic biology and how this field solutions the unthinkable. Through education and communication, we hope that everyone will find inspiration in synthetic biology, regardless of their age or previous experience in the field of science.
