Overview
Links-China consists of group of high school students full of enthusiasm of synthetic biology. Members in the team call themselves aroma herders, for their project this year is to produce the gorgeous 'Aroma Anchor', which consists of fragrance fixatives produced by genetically modified yeast that act as an anchor to prolong the longevity of fragrance products.
Let's see what have the aroma herders done to herd and anchor the scent molecules.
The formation of LINKS-China
Links-China is a unique league consisting of 'herders' from not only different high schools in China, but also stretching across to globe to high schools in the US and also homeschool. Most of the herders gathered in LINKS Academy attended winter camp sessions on cell factory and auxin synthesis in January 2023. The interesting and memorable experience aroused the members' curiosities and developed their passion for synthetic biology. LINKS-China offered members opportunities to become real genetic engineers in iGEM this year and by providing an environment for them to practically design and conduct molecular cloning experiments in lab to further their interest in synthetic biology. Junxin Zhang (Christine)
Student leader of Links-China. More importantly, being the primary administrative leader whose mission is to manage the whole team, and examine the progress of our project . She is a briliant leader with high responsibility, she devoted herself to the project, doing the most jobs in team. In addition to leading the science division to complete writing tasks, she joins all the divisions of our project including: Science, HP, Modeling, PV, Arts, Entrepreneurship and Wiki. Further more, she is also the one who came to lab for the most time.
Xingyu Xiao (Andy)
Student leader of Links-China. Besides joining divisions of Science, HP, he is the leader of both PV division and Arts Division for his talents in jobs relating to imagination and design. He designs the overall visual perfomance of wiki, organises drawing tasks for members, as well as directing promotion videos. Further more, he played an important role in preliminary establishment of our project, such as coming up with the project name 'Aroma Anchor' and shared group researches about terpenoids synthesis in the early stage of our project.
Yuhan Gan (Yolanda)
Student Leader of Links-China. She is also important in our early establishment of our project. Joining Science, HP, PV divisions, she helps to organise HP activities and write the script of our PV. She is dedicated to entrepreneuship division. As being leader of entrepreneurship, she took an active role in the writing tasks of entrepreneurship, as well as organising and pushing teammates in the division to complete the writing tasks.
Tianshu Liu
Student Leader of Links-China. She is mainly responsible for wiki division and HP division. We have successfully organised our HP activities thanks to her excellent social and communcational ability. She is responsible for the organizing of many HP activities. She helps us to get in contact and carry out activities with different organisation such as community office, nursing home, etc. In addition, she is the key member in our wiki uploading and building by virtue of her sophisticated skills in computer science and programming.
