Lab Safety

The Security and Ethic of Outreach activities

Our activities and research are designed with care to ensure that they do not violate the rights or beliefs of all those who cooperate or participate. We accept and take seriously any contrary opinions about our projects, synthetic biology, GMOs, etc. We collect personal information only when the purpose for which it is to be used is clear, such as in the organization of events, and we handle it with the utmost care.

Lab

• Before beginning any work in the lab, we studied safety protocols, analyzed the safety level of the lab, and classified it as Biosafety Level 1. We then learned to read, apply, and use the safety protocols to be implemented at this biosafety level.
• We used non-pathogenic E. coli BL21(DE3) and E. coli Nissle 1917 strains. This E. coli strain can be used at Biosafety Level 1.
• We used an open bench and a biosafety cabinet for safe experimentation.
