The 10th CCiC Conference of China iGEMers Community

From July 8 to July 11,2023, the 10th CCiC Conference was successfully held in Hainan University. The iGEMers all over the China gathered around, and the academic atmosphere there was extremely strong.

GXU-China is very honored to participate in this academic exchange conference, and also cherish this exchange opportunity. Our representative team members communicated with CAU-China, Nanjing-BioXsteam, OUC-China and HBUT-China face to face, shared ideas and the experimental progress as well as some difficulties encountered in our respective projects.

In addition, by participating in this conference, GXU-China has reached two education section activities with more than a dozen of other teams participating in the competition this year. The names of the two Education projects are "Synbio-rainbow for children" and "Synbio-Hourstory" respectively. There are details about both events as mentioned in their respective columns.
Drawing is a productive and effective way of expressing emotions and is considered one of the most important forms of therapy. So we brought some of the paper we designed and taught them to fill in the blanks with our art oil pastels. After several months of experiments, we extracted some from Curcuma longa.

"Synbio-Houstory" is a historical science popularization activity of synthetic biology jointly sponsored by eight iGEM teams from the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Lanzhou University, Beijing Normal University, Hainan University, Ocean University of China, Wuhan University, Tianjin University, and Guangxi University. It aims to popularize the development of synthetic biology to the public in the simple and beautiful form of cartoons.

We introduce project ideas to each other.Our members is very interested in CAU-China's project––the bacteria silicon substructure,and we hope that it can be put into production and solve the long-time problem of noise one day.Also, Their team's head of HP express their support to our project--using E. coli to produce the curcumin pigments and they are deeply attracted by the idea of making unique uniform by ourselves.
In addition, the two teams communicate with each other on how Human Practice could work better. Although the original plan to launch a multilingual synthetic biology brochure was not implemented due to time reasons, CAU-China and GXU-China also communicate many other details about Education section, which broadened the ideas and possibilities for each other. For example, the public number of popular science cartoon, suitable for children to read brochures and so on.

With the Nanjing-BioXsteam

Since the project themes of the two teams involve microbial production and clothing dyeing, the focus of this academic exchange is to discuss how to use microorganisms to boost the energy saving and greening of pigments. Both sides make very practical suggestions, we exchange views on the environmental protection of the clothing dye industry and pigment production industry, and discuss how to make our project more conducive to an environmentally friendly society.

GXU-China experimental team members communicate with the SJU-China team to share project ideas and progress, discuss the background and current situation of the project, and provide insights and suggestions for the packaging and application of each other team.

The experimental team members communicated the details and progress of the experiment with the members of HBTU-China.
