The CU-Boulder iGEM team first began using soybeans in 2022. This year we are expanding on the soybean chassis. Soybeans (Glycine max) are a globally important source of livestock food, biofuels, oils, and direct food products. Despite soybeans comprising 50% of all bioengineered crops1, there have been no iGEM teams who have bioengineered Glycine max. This year, our team is working on whey protein in the soybean.
