Shohum FinkelsteinBusiness Co-LeadBiomedical Engineering, 2025Shomama!! Sheās a former wet lab member turned business emperor. Sheās got it all down, and is usually found roaming Zues or the Big Red Barn. Shohum has got everything on lock, she knows what to do and can figure it out if she doesnāt. So much wisdom and so much life experience (wise beyond your years), Shohum is the best iGEM big a struggling wet lab member could ask for. |
Vernetta HuangWiki LeadComputer Science, 2025Vernetta is the queen of everything. Sheās the most amazing human being, the best wiki lead you can ever dream of, the coolest CS student, and is not restricted by any of the titles named here. The fact that sheās the sweetest, cutest, smartest, most considerate girlie in this whole world. Period. In case you donāt know, she also knows how to DaNCe KPOP. Can you imagine being her? |
Javohir AbdurazzakovWiki MemberInformation Science, 2026My boy is HIM. He actually goes by Java. Thatās how you know heās a true Wiki member, my guyās name is literally a type of coding. Heās also the flyest member of iGEM (indisputable fact). He pulls up to every meeting on an electric scooter with a gigantic puffer jacket billowing in the wind. You remember that scene from Madagascar 3 where officer Chantel DuBois pulls up on a scooter coming out of an explosion about to capture Alex the lion. Thatās Java every gbody. When he walks into a room slow motion music starts playing and everyone knows that BAMF has entered the chat. And the way he acts during gbody???? Pause. Heās like Benoit Blanc in Knives Out sitting in the back just stroking his chin assessing the entire situation. Everything goes through him!! He is the end all be all. God said let there be light, and he spawned in. He isā¦ inevitable. Iāve once seen him look at a screen and the website just gets created. Like hold on, is he supernatural??!!! Iāll end it with this sentiment shared by the entire team: You, LORD, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you -Praise to Javohir (2023) |
Derek HuangWiki MemberComputer Science, 2025Derek is the most insane, crazy CS man I know. From deciding that we were going to develop a game (rip game dev team) to basically making sure that we could even do any of it in time, he has made sure that Wiki does not flounder and fall face first off the edge of the cliff and meet all of our deadlines. He pulls up to g-body with his little electric bike (most likely two minutes late) but is always there with his laptop ready to debug whatever problem occurred last night or reading webtoons on his phone. For being a dude from Oklahoma, not bad Derek, not bad at all. iGEM is definitely in a better place because of him :) |
Jeffrey HoPolicy and Practices MemberHuman Development, 2026
itās very easy to know where jeff is as heās either a) running his rats in the basement of Uris deep into the night (that is if they donāt jump out at him) b) at wings (who tf is a wings club member??) (his first meal of the day is also fully never before 6 pm) (again how are you a wings club member) c) playing hayday (while he runs his rats) d) diving deep into frog meme pages, reposting said frog memes, and generally thinking about frogs 24/7 |

Isaac ChangWet Lab MemberNutritional Sciences, 2025Isaac Chang, the man of bacteria mastery, emerges as the go-to savior when the world finds itself ensnared in the grips of an apocalyptic pathogen. By the time itās out on the news heād be out with an arsenal of his unbeatable antibiotics. When heās not in lab, heās obliterating his opponents on the basketball court. Heās behind you one second and scoring the next. He may not be blue but heās the most underrated Sonic the Hedgehog. And thatās not all! This jazz man from Cali also moonlights as the piano maestro, heās the one and only āPiano Manā himself. |
Rowan GouldWet Lab MemberBiological Sciences, 2026This tall, curly-haired, grumpy granola icon can do it all. Give him a Gibson assembly. Done. Challenge him to hike Everest. Did it last week. Bet he canāt play guitar! He can. You can find Rowan studying at Big Red Barn or.. well, just there because he never goes anywhere else. Rowan radiates such a positive energy wherever he goes, even when he has a million things on his mind (aka always) #balanceiskey. He is also the best iGEM little of all time (BILOAT)!!!! |
Pedro Da SilveiraBusiness Co-LeadBiomedical Engineering, 2025Pedro is the super savvy subteam lead for business. A wizard when it comes to business decisions, Pedro is a Junior studying BME who wonāt let you forget that he is Brazilian. A go-getter when it comes to obtaining capital for the team, Pedro does it all- even when he is super sick and bedridden from a flu. |
Srishti KhetanBusiness MemberBiomedical Engineering , 2024Srishti is the heart and soul of the Business sub-team. From infographics to acapella to acing her BME classes, this gal does it all. Canāt wait to see her get into Med School and cure cancer. She also has great taste when it comes to picking her best friends and roommates. |
Iris LiWiki MemberComputer Science, 2025Iris is the slayest girlie in the whole world and I would not be surviving the year without her. She is the most epic CS major I know and whenever I need help, sheās always there. From suffering together on homework in Olin Library to eating good food and having the most epic life (with Tarot cards too amazing), Iris is the coolest girl you would ever meet. From always making the coolest art and wiki projects to being an amazing friend and person to hang with, I canāt imagine doing iGEM without her <3 |
Teresa LianWiki MemberInformation Science, 2025Teresa is the coolest, cutest, smartest, big brainest girl you will ever meet. She always has the most creative design ideas and if you ever need anything done, bAm- it will be done to perfection just like that. She made the cutest drawings for our game (I died a little on the inside because of how amazing they looked) and I can always count on her to be the INFO gOd. Please stay with us forever <333 |
Pallavi KondayapalepuPolicy and Practices MemberBiological Sciences, 2025Pallavi, our dearest one and only Pallavi. A truly dedicated PNP member - she doesnāt use her backpack because thereās oobleck all in it #outreachqueen #makingsacrifices #girlwydthoplzletmebuyyouabackpack. She is truly one of a kind: starts and finishes chem labs in office hours, runs on no sleep (this is mind boggling to me bc I run on excess sleep - Elena), and somehow has time to bake??? Her muffins are truly elite (someone get her on cupcake wars asap)!!!! (she would feed me when we lived together and iām still here. that speaks for something right? - Aindri) Our fav PnP (and only) RA, Pallavi has the best stories and somehow manages to have her life together - she does a billion things and still manages to do well after starting shows during final weeks #icon. Pallavi please donāt ever leave the team (aka please donāt leave me), I will truly burst out in tears and sing in true opera fashion to the tune of Mike Posnerās Please Donāt Go. The one of a kind perfect, precious, pristine Policy and Practices person: Pallavi. |

Pedro Pablo Vera PerezWet Lab MemberBiomedical Engineering, 2025Pedro is the coolest! He began as a member of wet lab last year, where he not only worked diligently in the lab running experiments (he became a transformation expert), but he also helped carry with protein folding and modeling. Now though, he has taken up an advisor role. Fun fact: he is also the ID subteam lead on Engineering World Health (I donāt know how balances being on two project teams, but he does and does a good job at everything). He is also a big fan of computational biology and is taking many really hard coding classes! Most importantly, he is an amazing guy who deserves all the success he has and will get. Wyss Institute, if you are reading this, Pedro will be the father of epigenetics so you will want to lock him down. |
David XiangProduct Development LeadBiomedical Engineering, 2025David Xiang is the PD Goat and is super cool. Heās really tall and is really smart (studying Biomedical Engineering) so he definitely knows his stuff on CAD and on top of his work. Did I mention heās really tall and skinny? He can definitely be a model. As a PD Goat, he carries the team to success in a manner that is pretty dope. |
Jonathan IndajangProduct Development MemberBiomedical Engineering, 2025Jonathan is the kind of person who'd challenge a rubber duck to a dance-off and have it grooving like a disco queen in no time! From his remarkable ability to turn everyday chores into a sidesplitting circus act to his talent for making the most mundane moments feel like a scene from a slapstick comedy, Jonathan is the ringmaster of hilarity. His laughter is as infectious as a contagious case of the giggles, and it spreads faster than wildflowers in a springtime breeze! |
Rita KellyProduct Development MemberBiomedical Engineering, 2026We here on iGEM are glad Rita is on our side. Everything about her indicates that she is a powerful wielder of terrible magic. When she isnāt the keeper of the Mann Library Grimoire, she is also a certified Fire Wizard (we arenāt sure how she got that certification and we are very scared) and can conjure ancient evils such as Sleep Paralysis Sid or Basketball Jatin. Some PD members have even seen her ponder a scrying orb in the basement of Ward Hall (allegedly). Ritaās secret recipe for yummy alginate beads keeps us fueled through the long evening work sessions, even if they make us write in third person. In all seriousness, Rita is an invaluable member of PD, a lynchpin of the iGEM social scene, and a generally cool person. |
Rachel LeeProduct Development MemberBiomedical Engineering, 2026Rachel is a valuable member of PD that constantly surprises you as you talk to her more. Other than being basically a year ahead in her BME classes, she litters PD meetings with questions that will have you questioning if you really should be an engineer. Donāt let that get you down though because they are actually all valid points that are just incredibly hard to answer. |
Catherine LiuProduct Development MemberBiological Sciences, 2025She likes iGEMā¦A LOT <3333 |
Deniz SinarStudent AdvisorBiological Engineering, 2023Deniz is the greatest wet lab member Cornell iGEM has ever seen (in my opinion). She was involved in iGEM throughout all of her four years at Cornell and did everything with incredible dedication. Most importantly, she was incredibly compassionate, understanding, patient, and just an all round really good human being. Personally, I have learned so much about being a leader from her and am genuinely grateful to have been led by her during my first year in iGEM. Deniz IS Cornell iGEM and we will miss her dearly. Who else can brag about coming up with our iGEM project for three years in a row? But we know that she is going to do amazing and incredible things and change the world with her incredible synthetic biology knowledge. Canāt wait to see Deniz in Forbesās 40 under 40 list really soon! |

Cameron MeyerBusiness MemberBiology & Society and Economics, 2026
Promptly at 11:15 am, Cameron Meyer steps into the IGEM gbody, sporting a sharp Armani suit and tie. In one hand, he holds his laptop with an Excel spreadsheet ready to go, and in the other, he's on a phone call with some Goldman Sachs big-wig muttering phrases like "profit margins" and "cost-benefit analyses" into the void..

Coco PoopatWiki MemberBiological Engineering, 2026Coco is very cool. She was on wiki, but then she switched to wet lab, which is very nice, because she knows a lot about synthetic bio. She also does a lot of stuff for HIVE, which is another biological engineering group. Coco is from Nevada, so moving to New York must have been a big adjustment because of the weather. š¦ |

Jean-Luc ShimizuWet Lab MemberBiological Sciences, 2025My boy Jean-Luc pulling up with the french, dude goes crazy on the lab bench. Question his wet lab skills and he WILL respond with flying colors - this future surgeon is HIM. Outside the lab, he goes crazy in the kitchen, cooking up Master Chef-esque dishes - have you tried his chicken katsu? My goodness - I saw heaven the moment I took a bite. This manās driving skills are also top-notch top tier - Houston has trained him well for any circumstance any hour of any day of any month of any season of any year rain. Dudeās driving skills also apply to Mario Kart - bro is like a Formula One driver in that game itās beautiful ā itās art. I donāt know how bro manages to get everything done while having his life together - maybe itās his all-nighters or some secret juice that he runs onā¦maybe I can convince him to reveal his secrets with some USDA prime ribeye steak. Or ginger ale from Ithaca Beer Co. Or maybe just spend some wholesome time playing Super Smash Bros with him will do it. Where thereās a will, thereās a way - with this man, though, thatās tough since heās stubborn like a bull. But thatās what makes him special - heās confident and honestly a great wingman ā heās always there when you need him. iGEM wouldnāt be the same without him ā I love you my brother from another mother. |
Smriti SridharanWet Lab MemberBiological Engineering, 2025
An ode to our WL queen: |
Sonia LyakhovichProduct Development MemberBiological Engineering, 2026Sonia is the best CALS representative PD could ever want. A master CAD user, Soniaās designs took PD to the next level. She is always studying, growing plants in a lab, working in Ward or helping her co-op (the place where she lives) plan the COOLEST events. On top of all this, Sonia is an amazing dancer and rock climber!! This summer she did the thing where upperclassmen take incoming freshmen on outdoor trips through Cornell Outdoor Education. What a pro!!! |
Jatin MukerjiProduct Development MemberBiological Engineering, 2025Jatin is very cool. If he wasnāt a Yankees fan, he would be a 10/10 chiller but unfortunately because of his Yankees fan status he is a 0/10 non-chiller. Unlike Gerrit Cole though, Jatin is very clutch. He is really good at the product development stuff that he does. He works hard, like Chris Sale, and his success rate is like Masataka Yoshidaās batting average. See how I named two red sox players? Maybe he should be a Red Sox fan. Itās all good though, Jatin is a very valuable member of our team and hopefully he can change his ideology. |
Rena ParkProduct Development MemberBiomedical Engineering, 2024
Rena Park, oh what a star, |
Joan RongProduct Development MemberBiomedical Engineering, 2025Joan is probably the busiest and crazy committed people you will come to know. Whether she's out there running a start up, applying and networking with internships, or even just taking a boatload of classes, she somehow juggles the schedule of 3 people at once. But no matter what, she is equally down for a good time, and she can really make any event pop off with her life-of-the-party charisma. She's also always ready to lend a hand and make time for her friends, and her love language is shifting her schedule around to make time to hang out with you no matter what. |
Nayal ZaidiProduct Development MemberBiomedical Engineering, 2024

Jacob NovozhenetsStudent AdvisorBiological Engineering, 2024Jacob is king of being wet-lab lead. He goes so crazy, silly, goofy about cells and transformations! Jacob is also a god at being sarcastic. You never know what heās thinkingā¦anywaysā¦he truly brings up the humor and funny levels of the team. But we cannot disregard the fact that Jacob consistently has good style and is a bit of a perfectionist in the best way possible. (FYI he copies my style and we have matched multiple times in Gbody - Emma) If you need something to get done in a timely and well organized fashion, Jacob is the person you call. We love Jacob and he honslay slays. <3 |
Emma TaigounovStudent AdvisorBiomedical Engineering, 2024
Emma is our certified yas girl slay queen ex-PD lead advisor. Be it MATLAB, a reinvented 3D printer, or even a wonky (and potentially explosive) bioreactor, Emma can handle it all. A constant fixture in the ELL (since |
Marla MitchellBusiness MemberIndustrial and Labor Relations, 2023Ever watch hockey in the Olympics?? Any chance you caught Miss Marla on the screen in action. Okay maybe you didn't because she canāt actually skateā¦yet, but after her intro to hockey class the girl might as well be a pro. Outside of the business subteam Marla is somewhat of an adventurer as she adores the outdoors. If you talk to her sheāll pull out the āI love to skiā for sure and at this point youāll be convinced that the olympics were definitely a pipeline dream for this girl at one point. If you do want to start a competition with Marla all you need is some homemade cookie dough and a spoon, start the timer because Marla will definitely have you beat in cookie consumption. |
Ishaan NanalBusiness MemberComputer Science, 2026Ishaan Nanal is the GOAT. He is the mastermind behind the worldās business ideas. You thought Elon Musk made Tesla and SpaceX. You are wrong, it was Ishaan all along. He is a CS major but he is on the Business team because he is like that. Donāt be doubting him when he is the next Bezos. He shows his loyalty to iGEM by wearing his iGEM hoodie everywhere. He has the loyalty of a golden retriever and a knight of the round table. Might as well call him Lancelot, the most loyal knight to King Arthur. He is mad knowledgeable is the world, so you might as well call him Mr. World Wide. He always has a fresh fit and everyone looks his way when he walks by. He also has glasses so you know he be thinking 24/7 about everything, even when he sleeps. You canāt see what goes on behind those glasses as it would be too much for the ordinary citizen to know about. The way he combines CS and Business is world-class so watch out for his name in the future. |
Shara ShanmugasundaramWiki MemberComputer Science, 2025Shara is the master CSer who we can always rely on. She is always busy whenever I see her around campus but she is always able to get all her work done, and done well. Bless her heart for making it to every last-minute meeting (rip game dev) even when she was super busy. She is also the only reason why like half of the wiki subteam makes it to gbody on time, and we are forever grateful for her service. |
