Hugh Kim

Team Lead — Wet Lab

Hugh works to conduct lab work, utilising research and knowledge learnt from wet lab to reach our project’s aim. As a Student Leader, Hugh has coordinated and managed the experiments involved with producing nitrogen-fixing bacteria.

Marcus Luck

Team Member

Marcus is our head engineer in designing and our DNA model. He is involved in designing and documenting the key findings of our experiments. He also works with the Dry lab team on research surrounding nitrogen fixation.

Sara Song

Team Member

Sara specialises in researching genetics and genetic theory, experimenting through practical trails to investigate the most efficient and likely ways to engineer our chosen E.coli bacteria.

Renqi Xu

Team Member

Renqi has been an essential member of the Wet Lab team, coordinating almost every experiment and trial, from separating plasmids to Golden Gate bridge assembly of genes.

Arjun Raman

Team Member

Arjun has been a helpful member of the Wet Lab team, assisting with some experiments and trials initiated investigating wide variety of soil examples.

Ian Gao

Team Member

Ian is a reliable and responsible member in the Wet Lab team, conducting general research on the quality of soil and nutrient factors that impact the soil’s health.

Ella Yumiao Peng

Team Member

Ella is essential in researching and implementing electrophoresis in our bacteria trials, in order to separate various different portions of DNA in our bacteria.

Asha Keshavarz

Team Lead — Dry Lab

Asha works as a Co-leader of the Dry Lab team, collaborating closely with the Wet Lab, to help strategize upcoming practical aspects of the project. Asha also helps create our DNA model to implement into our bacteria.

Anthony Foong

Team Member

Anthony communicates and organises the Dry Lab team’s research. He analyses previous studies into the subject of poor soil health and researches the trends that affect soil quality and health.

Ethan Low

Team Member

Ethan’s research focuses on analysing soil composition and nutrients to aid our investigation into how soil health is achieved.

Mylen Manivasahan

Team Member

Mylen brings in-depth knowledge from researching past soil-related projects to guide the Dry Lab team, planning future endeavours in the practical aspect of the project.

Taha Siddiqi

Team Member

Taha works to explore how our project connects with the environment, particularly involving soil health and it’s general impact on society.

Daniel Payne

Team Leader — Business and Marketing

Daniel manages SOILution's Instagram account to engage and raise awareness to a wide audience, whilst also conducting all research interviews.

Erika San Diego

Team Member

Erika is involved in the creation of the iGEM promotional and presentation video, and organising interview calls with experts in various different fields. She also manages our project’s podcast and human practices.

Skandaguru Murugabalaji

Team Member

Skandaguru manages our survey on the sustainability of agricultural land, and is significantly involved in background research for the project and the creation of the iGEM promotional and presentation videos.

Mayawen Devakumar

Team Member

Mayawen is in charge of preparing interview questions for our external interviews, editing wiki pages, and contributing to the iGEM impact grant.

Tom Hanley

Team Leader — Design and Programming

As the team’s main programmer and leader on the project wiki, Tom wrote and implemented most of the CSS, Javascript and HTML code and directed the recording and editing of the official videos.

Adrian Zhuang

Team Member

Adrian also helps with the project wiki, contributing to the formatting of the web design to make a cohesive and easily understood website for our wide range of target audiences

Tully Salmon

Team Member

Tully contributes to the project by creating our project logo, formatting Instagram posts, designing posters, and was involved with both the promotional and presentation videos.

Ahmed Alani

Team Member

Ahmed uses his expertise in visual design to create a comic that engages a younger audience to inform the younger generation about synthetic biology and our project.

Austin McLean

Team Member

Austin provides creative feedback on the project’s colour palette and ensures effective communication with the team.
