We are the Makerere-Uganda IGEM Team 2023, a group of passionate undergraduate scholars from Makerere University and India. Driven by a commitment to the environment and a desire to address pressing challenges, we are working on an innovative project to detect toxic Polyaromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs).
Our goal is to replace existing detection methods, such as Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrophotometry (GC-MS), with a portable, user-friendly biosensor. This tool will provide rapid PAH detection and instant results, revolutionizing environmental monitoring and protection.
The biosensor will serve as a cost-effective solution for various applications, including industrial site monitoring, agricultural safety, personal exposure assessment, and indoor air quality monitoring. We invite you to join us in this exciting journey as we strive to make a significant impact on the world through our innovation. Welcome to the forefront of environmental monitoring with the Makerere-Uganda iGEM team!
