Safe Project Design

We chose to use dead BSFs’ shell as a source of chitin,as to minimise the harm to animals. Moreover, we does not Include "induced lethality", "kill-switch" device or human experimentation.

Safe Lab Work

First and foremost, safety is paramount in any scientific endeavor. Before entering the lab, we ensure that we are properly attired with a lab coat, gloves, and safety goggles. Adhering to the principle of "safety first,"There are totally four species we used in our experiment,E.coli:BL21,E.coli:DH5-Alpha,Lactobacillus casei strain Shirota and Bacillus subtilis var. natto. All are classified as a Biosafety Risk Group 1 which are non-pathogenic organisms and allowed by iGEM and local Government.

The project involved the modification of E.coli genomes to enhance the rate of production and the expression of AMP .This experiment required meticulous attention to safety protocols, particularly in the handling and disposal of genetically modified materials. Every time we finished the lab work , we would put the biological waste into the autoclave machine in order to ensure that the wastes were uncontaminated, and then for disposal.
