Our team went to the wastewater treatment plant to conduct field research and gained insight into the many problems of traditional wastewater treatment methods. High energy consumption, incomplete removal of emissions, and high demand for water resources and land space have become the focus of our research. In response to these problems, we actively explored microalgae treatment technology as a new and sustainable solution.
After in-depth research, we believe that microalgae treatment technology has great potential. Our team proposes to use a mycoalga symbiosis treatment system, combining microalgae and microorganisms to work together to form an ecological circulation system. In this system, microalgae can make full use of light energy for photosynthesis, converting nutrients from wastewater into biomass and bio-oil. Microorganisms can further degrade organic matter in sewage to achieve complete removal of pollutants.
In the end, through our in-depth research and practice of microalgae treatment technology, we have been positively recognized by team members and sewage treatment plant staff. We jointly believe that microalgae treatment technology can not only effectively solve the problems of traditional sewage treatment methods, but also promote the development of sewage treatment in a more environmentally friendly, efficient and sustainable direction. In order to keep pace with The world, the FZPt-CHINA team participated in The 4th International Symposium on Biomass/Wastes Energy and Environment on September 21-23, 2023. The conference aims to promote the treatment and utilization of biomass solid waste energy and promote collaborative carbon reduction and pollution reduction. The conference will bring together experts and scholars from many universities and research institutions at home and abroad, government departments and industry representatives to discuss the latest technological development and application scenarios, exchange experiences and summarize experience.

The FZPt-CHINA team participated in the Chinese Society for Plant Biology from April 24 to 28, 2023. The aim of the conference is plant science for agricultural innovation. The conference opened the following six topics: carbon sink contribution of aquatic plants and algae, plant metabolism and crop quality innovation, molecular basis of plant cell fate plasticity, biomass crops and emerging agricultural industries, modern biological breeding technology and application, plant-microbial interaction.
At this conference, three of our members were present and participated in, including but not limited to, the Smart Agriculture and Food Security Forum, the Youth Academic Forum, and the Youth Growth and Journal Development Forum. Through the traditional activity of the festival - making lanterns, to enhance the awareness of the Lantern Festival, raise people's enthusiasm for the traditional festival, and let the Lantern Festival culture continue to pass on.
While inheriting the Lantern Festival culture and increasing the fun of the festival, the iGEM team and the concept of synthetic biology were promoted.
