Meet the team behind APUS
Olivia is a junior, majoring in Cellular/Molecular Biology. She loves the interdisciplinary nature of this iGEM project and plans to pursue similar research in the future. After graduation, Olivia plans to attend graduate school and work in the biotechnology industry. On a day off, you’ll find her in the kitchen, trying new recipes.
Arjavi is a senior majoring in Biomedical Engineering with a concentration in Machine Learning. She deeply enjoys the microfluidics hardware side of this iGEM project, especially the fabrication of microfluidic devices and their usage in the synthetic biology industry. After graduation, Arjavi plans to attend graduate school and eventually continue working in research and development. In addition to being an engineer, she is also a musical theater performer, songwriter, and intense camper.
Kara is a junior majoring in Biomedical Engineering, and she is interested in the field of synthetic biology. She loves the fluidics hardware component of this iGEM project, and is very interested in the parallels between fluidic and electronic logic. After graduation, she wants to go to grad school (and potentially get a PhD) for Biomedical or Electrical/Computer Engineering. In her free time, she likes to run, read, and listen to Mitski.
Margherita Piana is a junior majoring in computer engineering. With a keen interest in control systems, hardware and control systems for this iGEM project. After graduation, Margherita aspires to enter the software industry, she seeks opportunities to further her skills in programming and software development. Alongside her engineering pursuits, she enjoys running, writing, and chatting with friends.
Daniel is a rising senior majoring in Computer Science. He joined STEM Pathways in April with the hopes of applying his knowledge of computer science to the field of synthetic biology and iGEM. Outside of STEM Pathways, he participates in outdoor activities and plays guitar. After graduation, he hopes to stay in the computer science industry, with the hopes of going to graduate school to further his knowledge in AI/Machine Learning.
