Introducing our student members and faculty advisors!
Graduating Year: 2024
Major: Biochemistry (Pre-Med)
My role as a researcher requires me do hands-on experiments in the lab to gather data published on our team's wiki. I have worked to improve parts for future research available in the iGEM registry. I have also collaborated with other members of our team to develop a protocol and an easy-to-use assay for proper implementations of our biosensor.
Graduating Year: 2026
Major: Biology, Minors: Chemistry & Spanish
Being a Wet Lab Researcher requires me to work in the lab on various tasks. This summer, I was able to help out in the lab as I collaborated with senior members of the team to work on the biosensor circuit. We were able to take various approaches to complete the circuit and get all of the components to work together effectively.
Graduating Year: 2024
Major: Biochemistry
I have been responsible for the development of a kill switch as an added layer of biosafety to add to our overall biosensor. Last year, Alma's team successfully created a working kill switch, but this year, I designed 3 different modified versions of the kill switch to improve its function, and tested the efficacy of each design. I am also responsible for managing and training new Wet Lab Researchers.
Graduating Year: 2024
Major: Biochemistry, Minor: Economics
As Head of Wet Lab, I have worked over the summer to fix the circuit and have helped create the new repressor for our circuit. I have also helped teach new students what the expectations and the protocols are in the Wet Lab.
Graduating Year: 2024
Major: Integrative Physiology and Health Science, Minor: Psychology
I worked in the Wet Lab designing the kill switch and circuit. This role requires me to spend a lot of time in the lab doing hands-on work alongside our Head of Wet Lab.
Graduating Year: 2024
Major: Integrative Physiology and Health Science, Minor: Chemistry
I have worked as Secretary for the team helping organize meeting times and events. I also worked in the Cell Free Protein Synthesis and Kill Switch teams in the Wet Lab.
Graduating Year: 2026
Major: Chemistry
In the Wet Lab, I have worked under our Head of Wet Lab learning the procedures and processes of the circuit.
Graduating Year: 2025
Major: Biochemistry
I am leading the Cell Free Protein Synthesis practices to improve the project and future projects to come.
Graduating Year: 2027
Major: Biochemistry, Minor: Biotechnology
My role on the team was aiding in routine lab procedures involving the kill switch project. Specifically, I was able to assist in creating liquid cultures and performing dilutions of those liquid cultures to ultimately test the colony concentration present at each level. Additionally, I collaborated with another team member to plan what our team's future steps could entail for the next competition cycle.
Graduating Year: 2025
Major: Biochemistry
I played a role in the science and education portion of Human Practices by teaching our STEM Kits to a group of first grade students. I also helped put together an event to aid in science literacy. I have also worked under senior members on the kill switch project.
Graduating Year:2024
Majors: Biochemistry & Philosophy
I direct and run Alma's Human Practices program focusing on expanding our education materials and understanding our community.
Graduating Year: 2025
Major: Integrative Physiology and Health Science (Public Health & Sociology)
I have written multiple research papers examining public health impacts that have resulted from our projects. In my role, I focus on researching and writing, but I also support the education initiatives of the team.
Graduating Year: 2026
Major: Biochemistry
As a member of this team, I have contributed to both Human Practices and Wet Lab. For Human Practices, I have utilized my photography skills to capture moments from our community outreach events. As a Wet Lab Researcher, I have contributed to fine-tuning the circuit and furthering our project. I work under senior members and collaborate with the team to get our project working as effectively and efficiently as possible.
Graduating Year: 2025
Major: Biology, Minor: Biotechnology
I have contacted several farmers and drain commissioners around the area, and have organized and conducted interviews for those who might be affected by the Pine River's pollution.
Graduating Year: 2025
Major: Business, Minor: Psychology
Graduating Year: 2024
Major: Biochemistry
In this role, I work on modeling the systems we work with in computer programs. I also test these models and write a report on their function and results. My section works with researching, analyzing data, math, computer programs, and technology.
Graduating Year: 2024
Major: Biology, Minor: Data Analytics
As Head of Wiki, my main role has been accumulation and organization of Alma's project information. This also includes designing the wiki in an easy-to-read yet engaging way. I have also been involved in budget negotiations.
Graduating Year: 2024
Major: Biology, Minors: Chemistry, Spanish
I have continued to build on the skills I learned last cycle as a Wiki Member to contribute to creating a functional wiki that mirrors the professionalism and hard work of our Wet Lab, Dry Lab, and Human Practices teams.
