      My name is Jessica, and I am one of the Prairie iGEM team leads! I joined iGEM as it provides an exciting opportunity to work with like-minded peers passionate about synthetic biology. I joined for the science but stayed due to the integrated approach across disciplines that allows for real change within our community. In my spare time, I love to go hiking or play soccer!

In my spare time I love to draw, play video games, and read fantasy novels.

      My name is Karthika Babu and I am a part of the Industry team this 2023 cycle! I am also the team secretary. I have completed the second year of my degree in Biochemistry and am minoring in Statistics. I grew up in Dubai and moved to Winnipeg last year. I joined iGem because I find synthetic biology fascinating and am very hopeful for what the future holds for genetic engineering!

I recently graduated from the University of Manitoba with a BA in Sociology (honours) and will begin my MA in Migration and Diaspora Studies at Carleton University in the fall. I joined the IGEM team in between my degrees because of my interest in connecting the natural and social sciences, as both focus on solutions for various societal issues. In my spare time, I enjoy reading books and strumming on my guitar.

In my spare time, I like to read emails, look at data sheets, and analyze all kinds of graphs in a totally-realistic-real-job-simulator (aka Football Manager). Under my management, Aston Villa FC win the FA cup (2021-2022), Community Shield (2022-2023), and Carabao Cup (2024-2025, 2025-2026) and unfortunately, runner-up in Premier League (2023-2024), UEFA Champion League (2024-2025), UEFA Europa League (2025-2026), and FA cup (2025-2026).
